With 2025 now here, it's time to look back at the hectic year for the sports industry that was 2024... Ampere Analysis has just published it's 'Year in Sport' report that takes a deep-dive into the developments over both the media rights and sponsorship landscape and our predictions are for 2025. Some of the highlights: ✨ From a sponsorship perspective, 2024 saw title partnerships grow rapidly, but stadium naming rights have stalled. Title sponsorship will be one to watch in 2025, particularly with big rightsholders such as the McLaren F1 team out in the market ✨ When we look at growth categories in sponsorship, its’ coming from brands within Consumer Goods and Services, Travel and Logistics and B2B-first tech ✨ From a media rights perspective, the global spend on sports TV rights by streaming platforms in 2024 was $10bn, more than double what it was five years ago. As we start the new year, I’d like to point you in the direction of Ampere’s newly launched ‘Year of Sport’ report. A look back at what was an eventful 2024 in media rights and sponsorship and what we can look forward to in 2025. A few highlights for you: 💥 The global spend on sports TV rights by streaming platforms in 2024 was $10bn, more than double what it was five years ago. EXCITING NEWS: NCAA includes #STUNTtheSport in article titled, "Three women’s sports nearing NCAA championship sponsorship threshold" highlighting continued impact of the Emerging Sports for Women program! "Once in the program, a sport must have more than 40 schools sponsor it at the varsity level and meet minimum contest and participant requirements to receive a recommendation from the committee to become an NCAA championship sport. If legislation is adopted in each division, the NCAA establishes a championship. That process can take two years or longer to work through logistics such as budgeting, site selection and other championship details." STUNT has quickly grown its sponsorship levels to reach the threshold, with over 40 schools indicating they would sponsor it in 2024-25. Two things can be true at the same time: 1) Top college programs will command significant dollars, given the size and reach of big time college sports. 2) There is an overabundance of jersey sponsorship inventory in sports as it is, and this additional supply will give brands even more options to spend their marketing dollars. Traditional partnership fundamentals (e.g. leveraging IP, community/student engagement, digital content, etc.) will need to be bundled in for these investments to be maximized. #sponsorship #partnerships #sportsmarketing

Ampere has kicked off the new year with the publication of its 'Year of Sport' report. The white paper looks back on an eventful 2024 in the media rights and sponsorship industries, and provides an insight into what we can look forward to in 2025. Some key takeaways from the report: 📺 2024 saw streaming platforms surpass $10bn in media rights spend globally, up from $2.8bn five years ago. In 2025, streamers will account for 23% of the global sports rights market 📺 Major sports streaming deals came from the US, including Netflix entering the live sports space for the first time after announcing deals with the WWE, NFL and FIFA Women's World Cup. Four of the top 10 rights buyers in the US will be streamers in 2025 📺 New streaming entrants have only continued to drive the fragmentation of the sports media market, impacting accessibility for fans and fueling the demand for service re-aggregation 📺 Rights spend growth remains slower in Europe (new domestic Bundesliga deal ⬆️ 2%, Ligue 1 deal ⬇️ 14%), with less competitive tension and a lack of bids from major streamers affecting sales negotiations 📢 In the sponsorship space, title partnerships have seen rapid growth, with the broad visibility of this asset justifying the sums being paid. The Big 12 Conference is on the brink of a significant transformation that could reshape the college conference landscape. Reports suggest that the conference is exploring the possibility of selling its naming rights to a sponsor and potentially entering a private equity deal with CVC Capital Partners. According to various news outlets, the Big 12 is considering a "naming-rights partnership" that could lead to one of the most lucrative and unique sponsorship deals in college athletics history. Commissioner Brett Yormark presented a concept worth hundreds of millions of dollars during recent meetings with league administrators in Dallas. **Cape Verdean Basketball League and Baseline Sports Forge Strategic Partnership** **DALLAS, United States** – The Cape Verdean Basketball League (CVBL) and Baseline Sports have entered into a multi-year partnership aimed at advancing league development both in Cabo Verde and globally. The partnership will feature co-branded experiential activations, content production, and large-scale exchange initiatives. Additional key components will include joint youth development programs, player signings, and league combines across the United States, Mexico, and Puerto Rico. The partnership will officially launch in February 2025, with the first activation scheduled for the CVBL's spring season in early March. “We are excited to collaborate with Baseline Sports, as both organizations share a commitment to creating memorable experiences and opportunities for basketball players and fans worldwide,” said Joel Almeida, founder of the Cape Verdean Basketball League. “This partnership enables us to scale our brand significantly, offering international basketball players a clear pathway to competing in Praia, Cabo Verde.”

📈 Viewership ratings for the past 10 men's and women's NCAA Basketball Championship games (last nights men's championship excluded) It would be difficult to overstate the power and importance of the 18.7 number this weekend's matchup between the Iowa & South Carolina women generated. This data, and a heap of other metrics that quantify the level of engagement this entire NCAA WBB season has driven, flies in the face of outdated POV's about the business value of these properties and others like it that have dominated this industry historically. The latest NCAA basketball tournament broadcast rights deals valued the men's tourney at about $870M per year and the women's tourney (as part of a package including NCAA championship broadcast rights of several sports) at $65M per year... The global value of sports media rights has broken the $60bn barrier for the first time, boosted by the Summer Olympic Games and Uefa Euro 2024, according to the new SportBusiness Global Media Report. The total value stands at $62.61bn for 2024, a 12-per-cent increase on last year’s figure of $55.85bn, with the year-on-year growth propelled by the presence this year of several marquee global events.

I'm bullish on LinkedIn Live. 1. It's easy to set up - with a tool like StreamYard you can be up and running in minutes at a very reasonable price point. 2. Promotion is free - LinkedIn does a lot to automatically notify your page/speaker networks both before and during the event. 3. Lead collection is seamless - convenient for attendees to sign up and easy for host to download. 4. The recording lives on in platform - makes promotion of the replay simple.
