How to get funding from USAID (Part-1) Securing funding from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) involves several steps, from understanding their priorities to preparing a strong proposal. Here is a detailed guide to help you navigate the process: Understand USAID's Priorities and Programs Visit the [USAID website](https://www.usaid.gov/) to learn about their mission, priorities, and the specific sectors they fund (e.g., health, education, economic growth, environment). Review their current strategies and country-specific plans to understand where your project might align with their goals. Identify Funding Opportunities Regularly check the [USAID Funding Opportunities](https://www.grants.gov/) page on Grants.gov for new funding announcements and requests for applications (RFAs). xplore the [USAID Business Forecast](https://lnkd.in/ejYb-Fb5) to see upcoming funding opportunities. Register Your Organization DUNS Number: Obtain a Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) number if you don't already have one. You can apply for a DUNS number [here](https://lnkd.in/eyCCusis). SAM Registration: Register your organization with the System for Award Management (SAM) at [SAM.gov](https://www.sam.gov/). This registration is mandatory for all entities applying for federal funding. Grants.gov: Create an account on [Grants.gov](https://www.grants.gov/) to apply for USAID funding opportunities.

Be part of the solution in reducing barriers to access for small communities seeking Federal grants. Read this insightful report from the U.S. Digital Response. If you ate on teams and individuals involved with grants at all levels of government, policymakers and legislative leaders focused on ways to improve utilization and outcomes from government spending, particularly in small communities, or technologists from the public and private sector who design and build websites, applications and services intended for those seeking, managing and reporting on grants, this is for you to take some action. https://lnkd.in/eUVvBHZW

New Paper Alert: EMPATHY AS A PUBLIC VALUE: OVERCOMING ADMINISTRATIVE VULNERABILITY AND REHUMANIZING (DIGITAL) GOVERNMENT https://lnkd.in/eu6DW8W7 In our new paper, Sofia Ranchordas and I explore the potential of empathy as a public value and its possible shortcomings. Three key takeaways are: - Today’s digital and automated public administration has introduced new vulnerabilities for citizens. Empathy can serve as a powerful tool to enhance governance practices and address these vulnerabilities. - Empathy as a public value holds great potential to foster innovative governance, guide design choices in government, improve communication between the government and citizens, ensure equal treatment, and enhance fairness. - We are not only discussing empathy on a micro-level, as a tool in day-to-day decision-making, but also as a public value on a macro-level that informs policy choices and government practices as a whole. This paper proposes new solutions to good governance and draws attention to issues in today's digital administrative state. Thus, this paper could be of interest to civil servants, government organization, social counselors, and scholars. The paper will be published as a chapter in the book 'Public Governance and Emerging Technologies: Values, Trust and Compliance by Design (Springer 2025, forthcoming)' and was edited by Jurgen Goossens, Esther Keymolen and Antonia Stanojević. Many thanks for putting this great contribution together.
