Glass façades are not just bad from an energy perspective if they aren't properly technically designed, but they are an horror for birds. Turning off building lights is one way to reduce fatalities... shutting off half the lights in large buildings can reduce collisions by six to 11 times, according to a 2021 study.

Thanks for posting this Christian Vargas - it’s a huge issue that doesn’t get enough coverage and has a big impact on biodiversity. As you’ve said there are solutions like turning off lights that can help to address this, and also UV paint for windows which is visible to birds but not people… are there green building standards that cover solutions like these?
