For those who heard my tale from the field on Manufacturing Hub Network with Dave and Vladimir regarding VFDs not responding to starts issued by the PLC, captures exposing DLR Supervisor being enabled on an EN2TR plugged into a non-DLR network yadda yadda yadda…I have an UPDATE for you. Customer had the opportunity to take our suggestion of unchecking that pesky little checkbox and had this to say about the before and after: “We had a LOT of phone calls for days to help with these VFDs. It’s been peace and quiet since the change.” We also got an updated capture - results below. Think an 88% reduction (buh bye unwanted 400 microsecond beacons!) might be helping those VFDs hear better and act on those start commands? 🤓🙌🏽✌🏽 #industrialnetworking #otnetworking #thenetworkisnotablackbox #chefskiss
Can you tell us on what Network equipmnet was this?
That pps capture is a fantastic trouble shooting tool! I learned this from you from an older podcast!
MRP for rings or RSTP for other types of topologies for the real OG’s! PRP for the people with the mula! 😂
You'd be amazed at how often this comes up and folks run into that same problem.
DLR can be so demanding… 🤣
Shocking. 🙄🙄🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤣🤣

12moWhat is your recommendation for redundancy if DLR is slowing the network down? I’ve implemented the DLR set ups in a few of our tank farms where we are using fiber as the backbone for comms. Results have been mixed but mainly we just don’t want a failure in the middle of the farm causing a loss of everything last that point.
