🚨 **Unacceptable Behavior at Medical Trust Hospital, Kerala** I am compelled to share a distressing experience that occurred yesterday at Medical Trust Hospital, Kochi where my father was admitted due to ECG variations. Instead of receiving the care and compassion we expected from such a reputable institution, we were met with shocking and unacceptable behavior from the hospital staff. 🛑 The staff not only misbehaved with my father and our family but also made a panic-inducing comment, stating that my father’s life would not extend more than five minutes. Such a statement is not only unprofessional but deeply distressing for any patient and their family. As a well-known hospital, Medical Trust Hospital's conduct in this situation was nothing short of appalling. Patients deserve care, respect, and reassurance, not to be treated with insensitivity and alarm. I urge the hospital management to take immediate and appropriate action. It is crucial that staff are trained in proper patient care and communication to prevent such incidents from happening in the future. Let's ensure no other family has to go through such an experience. Healthcare should always prioritize the well-being and dignity of patients. #Healthcare #PatientCare #MedicalEthics #Kerala #HospitalManagement #HealthcareReform #PatientRights #medicaltrusthospital #IMAkochi Indian Medical Association Medical Trust Hospital, Kochi Antony Pulikkal Antony Pulickal Ranjith Ramachandran Gisha K Varghese Poornima SS Aisle Paulose Binoy Balan MTH Cochin HR Sandeep. A Call for Justice: Cultivating Safe and Respectful Workplaces" In light of the recent tragic incident at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata, where a young trainee doctor was brutally raped and murdered, we must reflect on the importance of workplace safety and culture. Workplace safety is not just about physical infrastructure—it's about creating an environment where everyone feels secure, respected, and valued. A strong, positive culture is the backbone of any organization, ensuring that all employees can work without fear of violence or discrimination. The incident at RG Kar Medical College has shaken the entire nation. On August 9, a 31-year-old trainee doctor was subjected to a horrific crime within the very institution where she dedicated herself to serving others. This tragedy has ignited protests across the country, with doctors and healthcare workers demanding justice, safety, and the right to work in a secure environment. Despite the efforts to investigate the crime, there are growing concerns about delays and potential cover-ups, which have only deepened the pain and frustration felt by the medical community and the public (Hindustan Times) (Amnesty International) (Hindustan Times). This is a moment for all of us to come together and raise our voices for justice. We must ensure that those responsible for this heinous act are held accountable and that such tragedies are never allowed to happen again. But beyond that, we must work towards a broader change—towards creating workplaces where safety and respect are foundational, where no one has to fear for their life or dignity. I urge everyone to stand in solidarity with the medical community and demand swift and transparent action. Let’s use this moment to advocate for stronger protections and a culture that truly values every individual. Justice for the young doctor is not just about punishing the guilty—it's about ensuring that our workplaces are sanctuaries of safety, respect, and dignity for all. #WorkplaceSafety #JusticeForDoctors #CulturalChange #Kolkata

The Sacrifices of a Doctor: Navigating the Demands of 36-Hour Duty Shifts 🏥💼 Life as a #doctor is undoubtedly demanding, with long hours, #challenging cases, and constant #pressure to deliver the best possible care to #patients. One of the most #significant #challenges we face is the #expectation to work grueling 36-hour #duty shifts—a reality that takes a toll on both our #professional and #personal lives. These extended shifts not only test our #physical #endurance but also impact our #mental and #emotional well-being. As we navigate through marathon shifts, we sacrifice precious moments with #loved ones, #compromise our own #health and #sleep, and often struggle to find time for self-care and #relaxation. The toll of these demanding #schedules extends beyond the #individual doctor, affecting patient care and #safety as well. #Fatigue and #exhaustion can impair our #judgment and #decisionmaking abilities, increasing the risk of medical #errors and #compromising patient outcomes. While duty shifts are an inherent part of #medical #training and #practice, it's crucial for #healthcare #institutions and #policymakers to recognize the limitations they impose on doctors and take proactive steps to #mitigate their impact. This includes implementing #policies to ensure adequate rest and breaks during shifts, providing support for #mentalhealth and well-being, and fostering a #culture of #worklifebalance within healthcare settings. As doctors, we are committed to our patients' well-being and dedicated to providing the highest #standard of care. However, it's essential for #society to acknowledge the #sacrifices we make and work towards creating systems that support our overall health and quality of life. By addressing the challenges associated with 36-hour duty shifts, we can ensure that doctors can continue to serve their patients effectively while maintaining their own well-being. 🌟👩⚕ #DoctorLife #DutyShifts #WorkLifeBalance #Healthcare Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata
