Earlier in the week, I posted some stats from our 2023 recruitment report, and I thought it'd be interesting to share some more data from that report: Since I began working in outsourcing some 15 years ago, there has always been that inevitable pattern of increased recruitment activity in certain months, for example - April and October have been the most popular months for people to seek a new role, which is actually logical, or at least more logical than say summer or Christmas. Whilst we experienced the usual "springtime spike" in 2023, there were two unusual spikes of activity in July and then again in December, which is intriguing to say the least. After a little bit of digging, I found that one of the main reasons for switching companies at irregular times of the year was due to layoffs. What's happening in the Tech and IT sectors according to Staffing experts? Although there's an estimated 500k+ tech layoffs since 2022, those in the IT sector remain optimistic AND still highly sought after. A large staffing firm did a survey which showed IT roles are among the most in-demand globally, but with notable talent shortages. 2025 is around the corner, if predications are correct, the market should stabilize as inflation and interest rates decline, driving increased hiring. Some key points: - U.S. employers report strong hiring intentions for IT roles. - Global growth - Tech hubs are growing rapidly. - AI adoption - Companies are focusing on AI and automation despite current hype. - Hiring Practices - There's more emphasis on technical individual contributors and contract roles. For those still looking, opportunities are still robust, reach out to a recruiter and allow them to be your eyes and ears. #TechJobs #IT #Cybersecurity #CareerGrowth #TechTalent #AI https://lnkd.in/gnuWe33Y

How long to get all recruiters back to work? Data: 300k people laid off in the past 18 months (mostly from tech companies). 30% of those layoffs were HR, DEI, recruiting. Extrapolation: If half of those 30% were recruiters, that means 45,000 recruiters on the market. Supportive Opinion: If you are a recruiter and have been out of work for a while, this is why. LOTS of strong competition. Daunting opinion: It may take a year to get all recruiters back to work, IFF tech is truly turning the corner. Strategy: What makes you different? What skills do you have outside of HR/Recruiting that make you more valuable? What is your UVP (Unique Value Proposition)?

I just want to work..... I hear a lot of people saying this right now. Especially in the technical recruiting space. During the mass layoffs of 2023 most departments saw a 10% to 20% reduction. Technical recruiting on average saw a 50% reduction!!!! Unfortunately this just means that our time to recovery will just take longer than other departments. It's something I have planned for. Even though I apply to 50 roles a day I have taken the steps to find work outside of my career. I now work a Labor job making 1/4th of what I used to working 3 times as hard. Doing everything I can just to stay a float in these hard times. Sometimes life humbles us and gives us a chance to appreciate what we had before giving it back to us. I feel now is one of those times in my life and I am doing my best to embrace it. I wanted to share this so people know they're not alone. My life has been turned upside down to the point where I am starting to fear loosing my home I worked so hard to get. But I will keep applying and I will not quit until I get myself out of this situation. There is a green pasture somewhere on the horizon and I firmly believe we will get there some day. Keep that head up. Keep applying and keep fighting. My door is always open if you want to talk. #ijustwanttowork #r4r #hiring #technicalrecruiting

Ever wondered how the economy, with all its twists and turns, appears through the lens of a recruiter? After a decade in the industry, here’s my take. 1. crazy scale-up phase, each and every company needs talent for yesterday (recruiter handles at least 10-15 hirings at the same time), and things are getting really hottt 🔥 2. THE BIG BANG and hiring freeze 3. layoffs of recruiters (as companies are not scaling anymore) 4. layoffs of the rest of the teams (as companies need to cut their costs) 5. lots of uncertainty … some survive, others don’t 6. new hiring for salespeople 7. new hiring for other specialists 8. new hiring for recruiters 9. happy zen times 10. repeat It feels like we are moving from phase 5 to 6 now. #recruiters and other experts in the industry - do you feel the same? --- Follow Heleen Anderson's Global Tech Recruitment & Executive Search for industry insights ✨

I've been receiving alerts like this ⬇ about once a week. It's not surprising to see talent acquisition opportunities trending up following the layoffs of the past couple of years, impacting many professionals in the field. Hiring is on the rise, and companies are either starting TA teams anew or rebuilding these teams to support these efforts. It seems that the cost of rebuilding these teams far exceeds what it would take to retain talent acquisition professionals, even during slower hiring periods. Perhaps this serves as a valuable lesson learned! #talentacquisition #recruiting #hiring #jobopportunities
