« Cerebrospinal fluid-venous fistulas (CSFVF) are a common cause of spontaneous intracranial hypotension (SIH). Transvenous embolization has emerged as a reliable treatment option. We review the clinical presentation, imaging, and clinical outcomes of 100 consecutive CSFVF patients who underwent embolization over 2 years.» ⬇️⬇️⬇️ Clinical and imaging outcomes of 100 patients with cerebrospinal fluid-venous fistulas treated by transvenous embolization. Applied as a palatal stent, Elemental makes palatal grafting much more accessible for both the clinician and patients by reducing surgical time (suture-free donor site management) and minimizing post-operative pain. A recent clinical study, published in ‘Clinical Oral Investigations’, has now confirmed these findings, comparing Elemental with using haemostatic agents and sutures on the donor site. ▶ Get started with Elemental at www.withelemental.com

Interesting and promising results in this new RCT published in #JAMANeurology. In this RCT phase 2b, 41 patients with intracranial aneurysmal rupture and HSA were treated by surgery. The authors compared patients receiving standard best medical treatment after surgery, with patients beneficiating intraoperatively localized nicardipine release implants + postoperative best medical treatment. The results showed a positive effect of the implants on delayed cerebral ischemia, and were safe for the patients. Good job Lars Wessels and Nils Hecht, and to all the co-authors 👍🏼

The Sufentanil blog has been updated with a video that explains the Keo-Time to peak Effect(TPE) relation. https://lnkd.in/e6j6a6Jv I have used the new Eleveld model as an example. Why? I am afraid that another so called expert is going to use the in my option obsolete TPE method to create another model for Target Controlled Infusion using the Eleveld model with an observed TPE of 1.61 minute and thereby increasing the confusion and decreasing the clinical acceptance and understanding of TCI. Just what happened with the Marsh model and the two different Schnider models. It is time to release the new principle: ODOM : One Drug One Model
The keo of Sufentanil: yet another anomaly in commercial Target Controlled Infusion systems.

Botulinum Toxin For TMD: Proven or Placebo? In the quest for effective treatment of Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD), the use of Botulinum Toxin has emerged as a subject of debate within the dental and medical communities. This Saturday, I will engage in a collegial debate on this topic at the American Academy of Orofacial Pain’s annual conference. My stance is anchored in the belief that neuromodulators, notably Botulinum Toxin, offer significant benefits for patients experiencing persistent jaw muscle pain, rooted in its biological and physiological impact. My colleague, representing the opposing viewpoint, suggests that the perceived benefits of Botulinum Toxin may merely be a placebo effect. The debate will not just be an exchange of opinions about the use of Botulinum Toxin but a comprehensive review of the scientific literature that underpins our respective positions - and about pushing the boundaries of our knowledge and treatment strategies through scientific inquiry and evidence-based practice. I look forward to sharing the outcomes and insights from the debate here on LinkedIn in mid-May. Stay tuned… #NYTMJ #TMD #debate
