I'm privileged and honored to be part of Snaplogic's Evolving the Enterprise Podcast Series. Thank you, Dayle Hall. It was a great discussion, and I look forward to many more. We're in a time when data is more than a resource—it drives innovation, growth, and intelligence. Having been around the block for more than 20 years, I've seen a lot of companies struggle with figuring out who they are and what they want to become. And now, with AI changing the game, it's the perfect moment for introspective reflection. Do we want to lead with AI, making it the heart of everything we do, or do we want to use AI as a powerful tool that supports our work? There's much to unpack here, and I'm here to share my two cents. Ready to dive into this together? The Crossroads: AI-First or AI-Enabled? Companies are at a pivotal choice: to prioritize AI as their core strategy (AI-first) or to use AI to augment and enhance their existing operations (AI-enabled). An AI-first approach involves integrating AI at the foundation of business operations, using it as the main driver for innovation and problem-solving. Meanwhile, being AI-enabled means employing AI as a powerful tool, among others, focusing on improving efficiency and supporting current processes without diminishing the role of human insight. Why the Distinction Matters Choosing between these two approaches isn't just about preference; it's about aligning with your company's vision, capabilities, and goals. Here's why making a conscious choice matters: Culture and Mindset: An AI-first approach requires a culture open to radical innovation and change, where AI is central to every discussion and decision. Conversely, an AI-enabled approach is more about gradual integration, enhancing what's already working well with AI's power. Investment and Resources: Going AI-first is a significant commitment, needing hefty investments in technology, talent, and training. It's a bold move that pays off for those ready to lead the charge. AI-enabled businesses might take a more measured approach, investing in AI where it makes the most immediate impact. Innovation and Competition: Being AI-First can set you apart, pushing you to the forefront of innovation. It's a way to disrupt industries and redefine standards. AI-enabled companies might not lead the revolution but stay competitive by smartly incorporating AI into their operations. The Journey Ahead No matter your path, the journey toward integrating AI into your business is filled with opportunities and challenges. It's about more than just technology; it's about shaping your organization's future, industry, and maybe even the world. So, what's it gonna be? Are you ready to put AI in the driver's seat and redefine what's possible, or will you weave AI into the fabric of your existing strategies, enhancing and elevating what you do? There's no right or wrong answer, just what works best for your vision and goals. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.
