It's now available! And it addresses one of the most significant challenges in behavioral health care and human services. BHC professionals need to properly document initial assessment, treatment, ongoing assessment, and discharge--not for the sake of "paperwork" but for quality of care.

🟣 Many of you are aware that May is Mental Health Awareness month, but did you know that it is also Huntingtons Disease Awareness Month and that today, May 15, is International Huntingtons Disease Awareness day? 🟣   Huntington's Disease (HD) is a hereditary, progressive brain disorder that impacts physical movement, cognitive abilities, and mental health. While the journey with HD can be challenging, there is a global community of researchers, medical professionals, patients, and advocates who are dedicated to improving the lives of those affected by this condition.   In honor of HD Awareness Month and International HD Awareness Day, join me in spreading the word about HD and the importance of funding research, supporting the individuals and families who bravely face its realities every day, and fostering hope for a future without this disease. The New York Times recently highlighted a study of twins that further confirms our understanding of the long-term health effects of childhood trauma on individuals. For example, the study found that "a twin who reported maltreatment was 1.2 times as likely to suffer from a mental illness as the unaffected twin in identical twin pairs, and 1.7 times as likely in fraternal twin pairs." The study's findings also highlight the importance of investment in early prevention and trauma mitigation programs by adding to what Mark Bellis, a professor of public health at Liverpool John Moores University in Britain described as “the increasingly irrefutable evidence that it is going to cost us all a lot less if we invest in tackling” abuse and neglect of children now, rather than “continuing to pay for the epidemic levels of harm” they cause downstream.
