As Pride Month ends, we reflect on the importance of mental health and well-being within the LGBTQ+ community. At Vaya Health, we’re dedicated to providing compassionate and inclusive mental health support for everyone, with a focus on person-centered care. Mental health disorders affect people from all walks of life, but the rate of suicide is significantly higher among LGBTQ+ individuals. As many of my close family and friends know, I am such a HUGE advocate for all things therapy and mental health. Mental health matters - and it's amazing how much release we get when we engage in therapy, journaling, and so on to "release the pressure." Unfortunately, the stigma is still out there. Every 40 seconds, someone loses their life to suicide. For LGBTQ+ youth, the struggle can be even more intense given the lack of knowledge, resources, and support that may be available to them. That’s why The Trevor Project is so vital—it provides a lifeline of support, offering 24/7 crisis intervention and suicide prevention services for LGBTQ+ young people. Let’s break the stigma around mental health, be there for each other, and raise awareness. Share resources, check in on your loved ones, and remember that "it’s okay to not be okay." If you or someone you know is struggling, reach out to The Trevor Project for confidential support: www.thetrevorproject.org Together, we can create a world where no one feels alone. 💙 #WorldSuicidePreventionDay #MentalHealthMatters #TheTrevorProject #LGBTQYouth #BreakTheStigma #YouAreNotAlone

Fast Facts: Populations most at risk for developing PTSD include: - Veterans - Women - Healthcare Professionals - First Responders - LGBTQ+ Community LGBTQ+ youth are more than twice as likely to feel suicidal and over four times as likely to attempt suicide compared to heterosexual youth, oftentimes due to the discrimination and trauma they experience every day. Charter Oak Family Center would like to take a moment to hold space for Pride Month! Happy Pride Month! 🏳️🌈 Let's take this opportunity to not only celebrate love and diversity but also to recognize the importance of mental health within the LGBTQ+ community. For many, the journey towards self-acceptance and embracing one's identity can be challenging and emotionally taxing. Let's continue to support each other, creating safe spaces where individuals feel empowered to seek help and openly discuss their mental health. Remember, it's okay not to be okay, and reaching out for support is a sign of strength, not weakness. Let's prioritize self-care, compassion, and understanding, both for ourselves and for others. Together, we can break down stigmas, promote acceptance, and nurture a community where everyone feels valued and supported. #PrideMonth 🌈💚 #MentalHealthAwareness

Being your authentic self is a powerful way to protect your well-being, especially during Pride Month. Embracing who you are, when it’s safe to do so, can significantly improve your mental health. Pride Month is not just a celebration, but also a reminder of the importance of self-acceptance and visibility for the LGBTQ+ community. Research shows that LGBTQ+ individuals who feel accepted and supported have better mental health outcomes. Let’s celebrate Pride by promoting authenticity and mental wellness.

It’s important to highlight that there are resources available for all Veterans, including those who identify as LGBTQ+. Help bring awareness to PTSD and ensure that every Veteran gets the care and support they need and deserve. Remember, there is not one resource, therapy, or treatment that fits everyone. If you are struggling and are interested in healing your PTSD, consider hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT). It helped heal my PTSD, and it can do the same for you. Visit TreatNow.org to learn more. I’m here to help and share my journey. https://lnkd.in/gmTKSEyY #PTSDAwarenessMonth #MakeThePledge #PTSD

As we wrap up Mental Health Awareness Month in May 💚, we enter Pride Month in June 🏳🌈. The follow words are from Mental Health America: "Inequity harms mental health. While being LGBTQ+ is NOT a mental health condition or concern, LGBTQ+ individuals experience mental health struggles at higher rates than their straight and cisgender peers. Mental health challenges among the LGBTQ+ community are primarily due to individuals facing stigma, discrimination, and bias in many forms. LGBTQ+ individuals can be incredibly resilient and thrive in the face of adversity with the help of supportive families, peers, and communities. But the ultimate protective factor in LGBTQ+ mental health is removing these adversities altogether, which we can work to achieve through creating informed and affirming environments." As young adults, family relationships have a huge impact on how we see the world. In this clip, The Dorm Clinical Supervisor Mat Elder, LICSW, explains how it's important to enter family therapy with an open heart andf self-compassion as you begin to dismantle systems that may not have served you in the past (and hold onto the ones that did!). This is especially true for clients exploring their gender and identity. At The Dorm, up to 30% of our clients identify as trans, and groups like Transgender Nonbinary Process Group, as well as parent coaching and intensive family therapy, help our clients and their parents redefine how their relationships will look as they grow and emerge into adulthood.
