This week's leadership quote comes from the former US President, Dwight D Eisenhower. He said, "The supreme quality for leadership is unquestionably integrity. Without it, no real success is possible, no matter whether it is on a section gang, a football field, in an army, or in an office." These words remind us that integrity is the foundation of every successful leader, regardless of the industry or field. It is the quality that sets leaders apart and earns them the respect and trust of their teams. As we navigate through our careers, let us remember to always prioritize integrity in our leadership approach.

Who knew today was National (in the States) Leadership Day? One of my favorite quotes about leadership is, "If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more, you are a leader." —John Quincy Adams. I have had the pleasure of working with outstanding leaders throughout my career. I won't name them here because I will forget someone. But take John Quincy Adams's words and put them into action. Pour yourself into your team, and mentees. Develop them and allow them to grow. Inspire a new generation. Allow them to dream. I have found that doing these things allows you to learn more from those around you than if led alone from an island. When you’re a front line leader at Lewis, you don’t only have a team of employees behind you. You also have a team of leaders around you. Alfonso Pina, of Mexican descent, has been a GF at Lewis for the past three years. He works in our Georgia division. He says when he thinks about front line leadership, he thinks of himself as part of a whole. He’s not just leading his crews; he and his fellow GFs are leading the division. That’s why Alfonso isn’t afraid to lean on nearby GFs and his supervisor. He knows they are just as willing to offer help as he would be because they are all committed to the success of the division.
