As I prepare to transition from the classroom to Instructional Design, I've discovered that there are two distinct teaching styles. However, one constant remains: Information + Practice + Skills + Attitude = Competence. This formula highlights the key elements necessary to achieve competence in any field, and I am excited to apply it to my journey in Instructional Design. Looking forward to sharing my progress with you all! #InstructionalDesign #LearningAndDevelopment #Competence

When I first started working in instructional design, I questioned the need to separate teachers from lesson plans. However, after diving into research-backed ID models like those thoroughly covered in this YouTube video, I see value in having a standardized curriculum template built on proven concepts to: 1. Reduce mental load for teachers 2. Ensure lessons follow best practices for effective learning 3. Allow teachers to focus more on hands-on instruction While teacher talent is invaluable, a template based on frameworks like ADDIE, Cognitive Load Theory, and Gagne's 9 Events doesn't restrict creativity; it reinforces it. Teachers can adapt the framework to their style while benefiting from an intentional, systematic approach to how students best acquire knowledge.
