Nothing says Happy Christmas Work Holiday like grading exams! As a teacher, I judge myself on these exams as much as I do my students. I’m always fascinated to see what people learned. I’m also fascinated to see how I can be clearer in my communications and how the language of accounting can be confusing to novices. In this season of change, I’m grateful for the 38 students who took a risk and engaged with a subject that many lawyers avoided their entire academic career. What are you doing today? #adjunctprofessor #teaching #education #lawschoool #accountingforlawyers

Quite often I get asked "Why are you different from your competitors" and I think Lauren Hewitt picked one of the best selling points that we have. We clear candidates quickly and then place them at our schools. If you are struggling to get anywhere with your current agency - get in touch today.
One of our unique selling points at Now Education is our compliance – not many of our competitors have compliance team within the office, many relying on centralized or even outsourced compliance support. Sometimes even in different country. For the candidates – the most important thing is how quickly they can get the job after registering and having an interview with us. Our average time to clear the candidate is around 8 days, in some cases even a day or two (when the candidates have current DBS check). If you are looking for the job in Education setting as a Teacher or Teaching Assistant – get in touch with us today. We will offer you hassle free process so you can start your journey working in our amazing schools as soon as possible. Jovita Kirkham Amileigh Salt

A good sign you don't understand someone is when you hear yourself claiming they are making up a straw man. Imagine you're in Flatland (read the book if you haven't - it should be compulsory reading for everyone to get a high school diploma). Flatland is a place with only two dimensions. They are not aware that there is a third dimension. And they look down on the world that believes their is only one dimension. Now let's imagine a person living in the third dimension tells a Flatlander about something that lives in 0, 3, 5 where these are the x, y, and z coordinates. They won't hear 0, 3, 5. They will hear 0, 3. To Flatlanders, 0, 3 is a good thing. But in your world, 0, 3, 5 is a bad thing. Saying 0, 3 (remember, that's how they will hear 0, 3, 5) is bad is just you not understanding things. But the reality is that they don't see the third dimension. We all have filters. Maybe the person you're talking to isn't wrong. Maybe they don't misunderstand something. Maybe it's something you don't see. Hold that as a possibility the next time you are about to acuse someone of something. It might be you.

What is juniorship- Don’t expect that senior will teach and guide you. First it is very difficult to get senior. Then you have to forget that you are LL B and advocate. Requires start from pulling down files from rack as per daily board, carrying those files to court room, waiting for senior, telling court that senior is busy, writing down next date on brief and diary, listening the gossip and scolding of clients and other advocates, etc. If you have patience and ability to learn from all these things then your juniorship has some meaning. Reading whatever papers come to your hand and trying to understand with reference to law is the essence of juniorship. This has to be done for five years without expecting any financial gain. Who successfully passes through this pains he can become good lawyer. Otherwise he has to go for judgship.

I guess I'm what they would call a 'mature student' I've been working in FMCG (fast-moving consumer goods) sales for the past decade. I've always been interested in the law, inspired unashamedly by your typical dramatised law shows 'Silk' & 'The Split', and a few great movies 'Philadelphia' & 'The Accused' but it wasn't until I became a Magistrate that I realised I wanted to pursue a career in law. My work has exposed me to bits of the law, most notably employment law (when I was recruiting and managing my own team), contract law (through negotiating 'joint business plans' with the customer) and competition law was a huge part of my role as the company I worked for had a market dominant position so we had very strict rules to abide by when transacting. Due to my office relocating I decided to career change. I'm in my 30s now, and with 2 kids under 5 I was reluctant to 'go back to' university. I also really want to see, under the new SQE route, whether you can 'self-teach' yourself, as they say. Being able to study at my own pace, and at the times that work for me (sometimes unsocial hours) is key. I find I'm most productive once the kids are in bed, 7.30-10.30pm. That's where ReviseSQE comes in. I looked into QLTS and The OU and was impressed with them both, and their distance learning offerings, but the price tags attached were significant. I stumbled across ReviseSQE and after reading their 'free' sample chapters I was very impressed. By cross-referencing with the SRA syllabus I'm planning to use their books as my primary source of content, doing a follow-up Google search for any concepts I need further clarity on, and then with their question books, along with the 'free' sample questions by the SRA (130), QLTS (180) and Kaplan (20) I'm hoping to give the SQE a go - in July - and see how I get on! Please wish me luck! Emma Fawssett #SQE1 #SelfStudy #ReviseSQE

🌟 Day 3 at Sanghi & Co.🌟 Another productive day at Sanghi & Co. as I continue to immerse myself in the world of legal practice. 📂 Case Files: Today, I focused on reading and analyzing several case files. This hands-on experience is proving invaluable in understanding the complexities and intricacies involved in legal disputes. Each case file offers unique insights and learning opportunities, reinforcing my analytical and critical thinking skills. 📑 Research on Cheque Bounce and NI Act: In addition to case file analysis, I dedicated a significant portion of my day to researching cheque bounce issues and the Negotiable Instruments Act (NI Act). Understanding the legal framework and precedents related to cheque bounce cases is crucial, as these issues are common yet complex in commercial law. The NI Act, which governs such matters, provides a structured approach to handling these disputes. 🧠 Learning Curve: Today's research deepened my knowledge of statutory provisions and judicial interpretations related to negotiable instruments. It’s fascinating to see how theoretical concepts translate into practical applications within the legal system. I am grateful for the continuous learning and mentorship at Sanghi & Co. and look forward to further expanding my legal expertise.#LegalInternship #Day3 #SanghiAndCo #LegalResearch #ChequeBounce #NIACT #LawStudent #ProfessionalGrowth #CareerJourney

The right skills can be learnt anywhere. The skills I would recommend for a fulfilling career in law or business are not what you might expect. The skills you rise or fall on are communication and admin. Imagine yourself a receptionist for a moment. I can, as when I worked as a legal intern, part of my job was answering both the door and phones, and taking dictation. Other essential skills I learnt included filing and working with diaries and calendars. I did of course sit in consult with clients, appear at court, serve documents, and write legal letters, affidavits, legal notices and pleadings. But a lot of what I also did was secretarial, and I remember those skills perfectly a decade later. Know your area of law or business perfectly and be unable to communicate effectively, and you won't do well. I type out every meeting I have during the meeting. Whether with a client or for business. It helps to have written notes to refer to. I also have the admin skills to have checklists and principles of an area of law in front of me to refer to, in consult or drafting, despite my good memory. I give my clients written records of their instructions which I type up based on my notes, and give written legal advice. Where I got something wrong in my notes or they said it wrong, they then clarify it. It helps a lot. Making clients tea or coffee - which I learnt to do as an intern lawyer, puts them at ease. A soft skill you can learn anywhere, with humility. And humility itself gets clients to open up to you. It also allows you to draft and advise, knowing you are merely a professional, not superman, but that that is enough. It is you they are paying to see.
