I've tested Sora's image-to-video feature fairly extensively (300+ attempts), but the results are disappointing. The output is mostly static (90%), with minimal and erratic camera movements. Even when movement occurs, it often transitions into a poor-quality Sora recreation of the scene, with a drastically different style. Basic camera moves like zoom, pan, or dolly are unresponsive to commands. People in the images remain static, lacking even subtle movements. Adding prompts, editing or removing auto-generated storyboards, and tweaking notes have little to no impact on the output. My preferred methodology is to create stylized static scenes with midjourney which seems to be the issue. Sora handles its own photorealistic imagined content quite well with text to video but I'm looking for more style / color / scene control using image + text to video. But I'm not demanding a lot just basic understanding of the content of the image and basic camera movements. While Sora performs well with text-to-video when following its prompt guidelines, image-to-video is severely underwhelming. It’s nearly impossible to achieve simple life-like animations or controlled camera movements at this stage. I’ve tried various image styles and subjects, but results remain abysmal and unresponsive to prompts. If anyone has managed to get consistent results, I’d love to hear your approach. Excuse the laggy screen recording, the mess (but visually organised) network, and the lack of visual narritive. Thats all to come. I've taken a few months off working with CGI conceptual and procedural visual identity, to learn some new reactive softwear (a very deep rabbit hole!). At first, I simply used this to create footage for a film but now I'm finding how much of a powerful tool these elements are, not only for creating visuals but for breaking down barriers to contect with people in new and exciting ways, using recorded or live data either from the subject or the view themselves.
