Retention, parental leave and returning to work are topics that many discuss privately among trusted friends and family but rarely bring up in public.

THERE'S SOO MANY DICKS! Seriously: did you know that men named Richard, Rick, or Dick (Dicks) outnumber women and diverse groups on public company boards? It's time to Change the Board Game. There are too many Dicks and not enough of everyone else. We combed through each board of directors of U.S. based companies on the NYSE and NASDAQ, all 36,957 existing board members across 4,429 publicly traded U.S. companies. The data is astounding: 🔍 There were 566 men named Richard, Rick, or Dick (Dicks) serving on these public company boards. 🔍 Black women and Asian women barely outnumber men named Dick, with only 806 Black Women, 774 Asian Women. 🔍 There were only 283 Hispanic Women on these same boards, only half the number of “Dicks”. There’s advice that can change your day, and then there’s advice that can truly change your life. Being able to give financial advice to my family, friends, and even strangers who trust me with their stories is something I’ll never take for granted. Since co-founding myStashhq in 2021, I’ve been fortunate to gain a lot of insight into Finance and Wealth Management. I didn’t start off knowing much about Personal Finance - unfortunately, these vital skills aren’t typically taught in schools. That’s why my team and I are passionate about empowering young people through our free financial training sessions. So, its #BWAM40under40 moments like this that make me catch my breadth and reflect on how far I've come. Yet, I realize there's still so much to learn. I’m deeply honoured to be recognized among such incredible women in the Finance and Wealth Management space. Will be holding my breadth, crossing my fingers, and counting down to October 3rd! We’re thrilled to share that The Female Quotient is a finalist in the Shorty Awards for best Branded Series, FQ Trailblazers in History and for our LinkedIn presence 🏆 We believe that change happens through powerful storytelling. Through our “Trailblazers in History” video campaign, we share the stories of “unseen” female change-makers. From historic firsts to pioneering the world’s most innovative concepts, women have made extraordinary contributions to the world as we know it. Yet, so many of these iconic women’s achievements have gone largely unnoticed because they were never documented in history books. For example, Albert Einstein’s first wife, Mileva Marić-Einstein, was a physicist too – and there’s plenty of evidence that her work contributed significantly to his groundbreaking science. They decided to publish under his name because a man's name carried more weight. The purpose of this campaign is simple, but powerful: Make the invisible visible by highlighting forgotten women in history. With a small social team of just a few people (who truly love uncovering the history of trailblazing women) and zero budget, we’ve organically grown this series post by post. 🎉 To the white women who showed up—YOU are leading the charge! 🎉 I want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible women who attended the RAARE Woman Collective Town Hall Summit. Your presence, vulnerability, and commitment to this work are exactly what’s needed to drive real, transformative change. By showing up, sharing your stories, and embracing the discomfort of growth, you are truly leading by example. We were guided over the past two nights by Dr. Nikki R. and Karen D. Smith Butler, two incredible Black women leaders who lead with love, compassion, and grace. They not only educated and supported us but reminded us of the urgency of this work. Racism and hate impact each and every one of us—regardless of our skin color—and the cost is something we can no longer ignore. Hearing the stories of the women of RAARE was a powerful reminder that racism has stolen something from each of us, and it’s time to take action. Together, we have the power to advance racial equity and create a world where racism can no longer live.
