Looking for a change this summer? Or to stay the same? Change is a word ... for a journey with stress. ~ You get the journey, and you get the stress. The payoff is at the end, you're a different person. But both elements are part of the deal. Choose hard. And watch the growth that happens. ~ ”Before last summer, I had worked 6 years in veterinary hospitals as a veterinary technician. ✋🎤💥 I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve officially joined the incredible partnerships team at Obie as a Channel Partner Manager II! Obie is on a mission to reinvent the insurance process for landlords and rental property investors. With our tech-forward approach, we’re not just simplifying insurance—we’re transforming it ✨ By taking the hassle out of obtaining coverage for our partners' customers, we help our partners: 📈Increase efficiency in their business ⚡️Enhance their value proposition I’m so excited to unlock and drive success together 🤝 I’m boldly diving headfirst into this next chapter, bringing big partnership energy to my new role at Obie 🚀 —-------------------------- I also want to recognize that navigating the space between opportunities can be both daunting and empowering. During my brief interim between roles, I took the time to reflect, recharge, and refocus my career goals by: 🏞️ Exploring the Great Outdoors: My family and I traveled to Acadia National Park to disconnect from the noise and reconnect with each other and nature. 👨👩👧👦 Connecting with Loved Ones: We visited family across Texas and Oklahoma that we hadn’t seen in years, recharging our souls and reminding us of what truly matters in life. 💼 Strategizing My Next Move: I engaged in deep, strategic conversations with my network and explored prospective opportunities to determine how I want to be supported and challenged next in my career which helped me dial into the perfect opportunity. 🧭 Realigning My Mindset: Every day, I consciously reminded myself of my value and intentionally chose to be grateful for the experiences that have prepared me to level up to this new role. This post wouldn’t be complete without expressing my immense gratitude to my previous directors and heads of partnerships—Aidan Weinrib (she/her), Kelsey Kearns, Charlotte Z., Brittney Heaphy, and many others—who always recognized my value and supported me along the way. 🙏 🤔 What’s one piece of advice you would give to someone currently in the midst of their career transition?

As Mariners, we like to think horizontally, not vertically, and we share this broad vision with our customers, helping them move forward when they feel lost in the fog, a clear-eyed navigator guiding the way. One Mariner we can't help but think of when it comes to his dedication to customers is our Account Director, Steve Higgins! Steve stands out for many, having been a part of Mariner since 2008, where he began his journey as a co-op student and then full time after graduating from Dalhousie University. Through the years, Steve has held several roles as Marketing Coordinator, Delivery Coordinator, and Delivery Manager, but it wasn’t until his work in recruitment that he discovered a real interest in the sales side of the business. "What first got me interested in Sales was actually my role in Delivery, where I had responsibility for recruitment activities. As a small company we would need to often pitch ourselves to top talent that we were trying to attract, and there would be lots of negotiations on salaries, compensation packages, etc. I enjoyed pitching and negotiation, so naturally thought that Sales would be a good path for me to follow to progress my career." Today, with 14 years of experience in the IT services field and over 4 years on the Sales team, Steve enjoys the challenges of selling professional services and solutions to the communications service providers (CSP) market. Here, he thrives from managing large customer accounts and continuously building relationships with customers. He takes pride in his ability to collaborate with clients to find innovative and creative solutions when solving their unique business challenges, "I enjoy being an advocate for my customers, going the extra mile, and being flexible in helping to meet their challenges and needs". As for what Steve loves about working with Mariner, he says it's the "excellent leadership team that supports their employees, the many opportunities for growth and development, and the flexible work environment" that make Mariner the ideal place to work! We’re lucky to have Steve on our team and appreciate the time and attention he gives to every aspect of his role 😊 #BuildingBetterFutures #PoweredByPeople #ImagineADifference #EmployeeSpotlight #Sales #TheMarinerExperience #AChangeThatMatters #AccountDirector #Innovate #DalhousieUniversity #IT

Catch of the day. What gets you the big fish? Last week, I watched my son catch his first fish at our pond on Cape Cod. He had been fishing for months, teaching and helping his brother and friends succeed, yet he hadn't caught one himself. One weekend hanging out with Jayden, one of his friends even caught three fish and his brother caught a fish in Jayden’s fishing spot. But Jayden’s hook remained empty as he cheered others on for their success. When he finally caught his fish Tuesday, the excitement and pride he displayed on his face was contagious—it was truly a testament to his perseverance and a reward for his support of others. As a passionate marketer, this moment made me think of the feeling I get when securing a quality conversion in Marketing, and when Sales is excited, too. It's that same sense of triumph and collaboration when working hard towards a common goal like catching “the big fish” in your pond (or pipeline). You work with a team, guide the team, provide value that is not always self-promoting of you or your company…then reel your target (or fish) in one value step at a time – all with hard work, passion and pride. I was proud of Jayden for catching that fish, but more because he persevered and had happily helped others. By the way his excitement would have made me think this was the biggest fish in the pond. Go Jayden! Remember, persistence and focused hard work pay off. Keep your eye on the prize and stay energized! What strategies do you use to stay motivated and achieve your goals? #MarketingSuccess #PerseverancePaysOff

We are Berkshire Hathaway (Chairman Warren Buffett) HomeServices London. We have Prime Central London real estate covered! ⬆️ 📈 💪 - MORE TO COME!
Today is my ten-year anniversary in the industry. From trainee lettings negotiator in Fulham to being responsible for Berkshire Hathaway's sales and lettings teams across our London network, here are ten simple things I've learned over the last ten years, from myself and some great people. 1) Choose your mentors carefully. 2) Keep it simple - do the basics at an elite level. 3) Find a way to put yourself in the other person's shoes and see things from their point of view. 4) As a negotiator, be selfish with your time; as a manager, be selfless with yours (focus on winning through your team versus wanting to be the star yourself). 5) Control the controllables (the serenity prayer mindset!). 6) Focus on the process, not the results. 7) Challenge and teach versus being an order taker and yes-man. 8) Choose your mindset/Expect the best - look for the positives rather than the negatives. There are always some! 9) Deny the drama (decrease the stress). There will be tough days, weeks, and months. It doesn’t mean you are suddenly a bad salesperson. 10) Free yourself by giving yourself a structure. What’s in the diary gets done. (Bonus) Always be coachable and wanting to learn new ideas !

Time flies in this fast-paced, non-stop industry, and sometimes it’s good to pause and reflect on the journey. Coming from a background in coaching high-performance athletes, I developed a personal interest in property and found myself immersed in commercial real estate. Starting in the industry during the COVID lockdowns and navigating the market’s redevelopment has been a learning curve. After three years working with other agencies, I took the leap to become an Independent Agent and launched Buckley & Co. This week marks a milestone as I transacted my 100th deal - 27 industrial, 46 retail, and 27 office with each transaction teaching me something new. If I could give my past self advice, it would be to focus on building a solid database, understanding that customer service is key, knowing that systems and processes can outperform experience, and appreciating the importance of excellent record-keeping. Sport has taught me a lot but one of the main things has been keeping a routine which has helped me stay consistent. I’m thankful for the opportunities and for the clients, customers and managers I've had the pleasure of working with. This job is definitely a rollercoaster, filled with highs and lows, but... it’s the challenges and wins that make it rewarding 🙌 Buckley&Co.

Our proudest memories often originate from our toughest experiences. This week, it was an absolute pleasure to provide Justine White and Gary Smith from Jacobsen with an impromptu tour of some of the work we've been doing at Wellington Hospital. Their compliments not only recognized the exceptional standard of our installers' work (which truly deserves 90% of the credit), but also highlighted their admiration for how we managed the intricacies of such large, unconventional and unorthodox challenging projects. Reflecting on these big projects, it's remarkable to realize that they've become just another day in the office for us. However, this wasn't always the case. This experience got me thinking about the transformative mindset I've embraced over the past 2-3 years: the mindset of leaning into hard things. I initially applied this mindset to my personal pursuits, such as hunting, with transformative results. Over time, I've seen how it has permeated into my work life and even my relationships at home. Doing hard things builds resilience and strengthens the mind. Eventually, what once seemed insurmountable becomes manageable, and we're ready to tackle even bigger challenges. The decant ward project was undoubtedly tough, presenting numerous challenges. Yet, it's also one of the projects I'm most proud of. Giving Justine and Gary the tour was a privilege that reinforced my pride in my team and all that we've achieved, and continue to achieve. What's our next challenge? Maybe you can help me? Bring me a hard project! A tough job! A risky job! One that will bring us a healthy dose of discomfort. #StayHard #CantHurtMe #WellingtonVinyl #CommercialFlooringWellington

"🎙️ Selling Smiles to Overcoming Fears in Deer Valley 🏔️ This February, I'm transitioning from delivering one of my favorite speeches 'Selling Smiles over Sales Pitches' to embracing the snowy slopes of Deer Valley. Just like the iconic line from Talking Heads' 'Once in a Lifetime' - 'How did I get here?' - I often find myself marveling at life's journey. In my talk, I delve into the power of 'just asking' - a principle championed by Jack Canfield. It's about overcoming the fear of rejection and embracing the courage to seek what you desire. I've found that simply asking can lead to incredible pathways, both professionally and personally. So, in the spirit of 'just asking', I turn to you, my LinkedIn community: What are your must-visit spots in Deer Valley? From thrilling ski runs to the coziest coffee nooks, I'm eager to hear your recommendations. Your insights will help make my post-conference adventure unforgettable! This! This is a perfect example of what I spoke to earlier this week, and I couldn't not share when I saw it this morning. The story of Jessica Rioux is a paragon of dedication and loyalty, and she is an exemplary professional with more knowledge than most who are actively in management and human resources departments (IMHO). Jessica started her career as a receptionist, and I would suggest she is way more than what her current title reflects. Her unwavering commitment and hands-on approach are what had her rising through the ranks. She embodies the very essence of growth and adaptability. And today, she stands as a testament to what dedication and continuous learning can achieve. You want to know what truly sets Jessica apart, though? Her story. We all have them. My favorite kind of inspiration are the stories, the achievements, the examples of others. Jessica has many, I am sure, but my favorite... Five years ago, as a single working mother, Jessica demonstrated extraordinary determination by pursuing and obtaining her BBA in Business Management & Human Resources - this is no small feat. And, mind you, I needed a little of that inspiration when I was first deciding whether or not I should go back to school. The hands-on experience she has collected over the last decade provides her with a unique perspective, enabling her to understand and address the nuances of workplace dynamics effectively. That experience makes her invaluable, her person Jessica mentions that Helen Keller once said, "Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much." She, and many whose titles don't accurately reflect their contributions to their company, is/are a living embodiment of this philosophy, proving that collective efforts, guided by knowledgeable and dedicated individuals, lead to unparalleled success. Happy 10 years, Jessica, that Southern office is lucky to have you. #ProfessionalGrowth #HumanResources #Leadership #Dedication #CareerJourney #Inspiration #pulpandpaperindustry #chemicalindustry
Just over nine years ago, I accepted the position as receptionist at STEBBINS ENGINEERING. Much to my surprise, God had big plans to expand my horizons in the professional realm. Leaving the school system as a para professional, I had no clue the journey I would soon embark on. After eleven months at STEBBINS, I was offered the role of billing assistant. I accepted the role and embraced it with an open mind. Eleven months later I was asked to take on the role of Southern Operations Coordinator. Although I knew I desired growth, I was quite nervous. However, I pushed through the nervousness and embraced the challenge. It’s safe to say, I had no clue the depth of that challenge at the time. Yet, I persevered. Thankfully, many patient leaders took me under their wings and taught me about the role. My position as coordinator opened many doors of growth for me. It also opened my eyes to a whole new world that I hadn’t yet experienced. In 2018, I visited a jobsite for the first time in Fernandina Beach, FL. (Picture below) I was so proud to go out and see what I had a small part of bringing to fruition. To be a part of “the crew” for a few days gave me such a sense of pride. Today, after coordinating for seven years, I can honestly say that I have so much respect for the people in this industry. Being a part of it has afforded me the opportunity to meet many great people and appreciate the skill set of each individual. As I move toward my tenth year, I look forward to learning and growing much more with our team. “Alone we can do so little. Together we can do so much.” – Helen Keller
