The Clinical Services In IR Task Force developed a three-stage system for clinical services infrastructure development. This system shall help create awareness of the fact that different levels of service provision can be offered and worked towards. IRs may also use this system to benchmark themselves and set personal goals for future developments in their centre and practice. The three levels of clinical services infrastructure are split into #inpatient and #outpatient. What is your current level? Where do you see yourself in three years from now? What helps you or holds you back? Leave a comment to share your experience! Learn more about the three-stage system here: https://t.ly/8EvkP Task force members: Prof. Dr. Andreas H. FLUIDDA is very excited to announce an important collaboration with the THREE LAKES FOUNDATION to investigate early predictors of progression of interstitial lung abnormalities (#ILA) using quantitative CT imaging. ILA, which may be an early sign of pulmonary fibrosis (#PF), is a common incidental finding on chest CT scans, but researchers have yet to determine why some patients progress while others remain stable. This cooperative endeavor, sponsored by the THREE LAKES FOUNDATION, will be undertaken in collaboration with investigators at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Weill Cornell Medicine. We share Three Lakes Foundation’s commitment to improving time-to-diagnosis, quality of life, and outcomes for patients living with PF. #fibrosis #lunghealth #IPF

The full impact of ionizing radiation in cardiac cath labs has yet to be recognized by most in our field. The use of substantial shielding is a key component to limiting exposure. More importantly, reducing the amount of total fluoroscopy time can have a greater impact. Utilizing AI-powered #Ultreon #OCT software from Abbott | Cardiovascular to follow the #MLDMAX algorithm is proven to reduce radiation exposure by 10.7% without increasing contrast usage. Now, if we only had longer arms… #timedistanceshielding #AbbottProud #imagefirst #imageagain
A new study out of HonorHealth highlights the potential impact radiation shields can have on interventional cardiologists and other cath lab employees. Researchers focused on new technology from Image Diagnostics, Inc.

During a discussion at the Cardiovascular Tech Summit, Dr. Friedhelm Beyersdorf, Professor at the Medical Faculty of Albert-Ludwigs-University Freiburg and ResuSciTec GmbH, highlighted exciting advancements in multi-organ repair through Controlled Automated Reperfusion of the Whole Body (CARL). CARL represents a groundbreaking innovation aimed at addressing the limitations of conventional resuscitation methods, particularly following cardiac arrest. Unlike current techniques, such as a-v ECMO, CARL’s extracorporeal perfusion system is designed to restore cardio-circulatory function while minimizing cellular metabolic damage. Its unique features—including pulsatile arterial blood flow, high-pressure generation, rapid cooling, and advanced monitoring—offer a new approach to reversing ischemic and hypoxic injuries, significantly improving resuscitation outcomes. This individualized strategy for multi-organ repair is poised to be a game-changer in resuscitation. CARL not only restores circulatory function but also incorporates a cytoprotective solution designed for comprehensive organ repair. With ongoing research funding and clinical trials, this innovation holds great potential for enhancing survival rates and long-term recovery after cardiac arrest. Keep an eye on CARL as it continues to reshape emergency and critical care medicine! #CTF2024 #InnovationUpdate #CARL

🎉 I am proud to share our Cochrane systematic review, which consolidates all available information regarding the reliability of structural ultrasound examinations for detecting congenital anomalies in the first and second trimesters. This review of 53,000 research papers(!) is a significant milestone in prenatal diagnostics, enhancing our understanding and capabilities in early anomaly detection. We invite colleagues, healthcare professionals, and researchers to read our findings and consider the implications for clinical practice. Find out more about our insights and conclusions here: https://lnkd.in/e26GgN76 Many compliments to my coauthors for getting this laborious job done and having it (finally) published!
