📣 Publication Alert: Breakthrough Energy Releases 'State of the Transition' Report In a year that has been dominated by elections – including pivotal ones here in Europe – we have seen a renewed global focus on delivering results. It is no longer sufficient to write new climate policies; we need to implement climate projects and show that the clean transition is not only viable, but also beneficial for the public and profitable for business. That holds true here in Europe where the European Commission is focused on speeding up investment and construction of cleantech projects with its “Clean Industrial Deal.” Doing so is going to require fundamental changes in how the Commission operates and how projects are financed. There is growing acknowledgement that these changes are needed - and with the release of Mario Draghi’s report, there is a new urgency in Europe to #scaleup clean technologies and reignite Europe’s #competitiveness. You can read about one of the best implementation successes, Rondo Energy, in the new State of the Transition report. Rondo Energy is a pioneering clean electric heat technology that will help Europe replace its dependence on imported natural gas. The company’s three new European projects were facilitated by the Energy Resilience Leadership Group and received public/private funding from a Breakthrough Energy Catalyst and European Investment Bank partnership. Rondo Energy’s first project, decarbonizing Covestro’s chemical plant in Northern Germany, goes online in early 2025. This global shift toward implementing projects is welcome progress.
