We had a great time at the International Society for the Study of Womens Sexual Health (ISSWSH) annual meeting last week. We: 1. Welcomed new members to our Consortium and two new members to our Scientific Advisory Board (more on that below). 2. Distributed a poster with the *first* medical illustration of female sexual arousal to healthcare providers. 3. Dined with members of the new vanguard of female sexual medicine. 4. Learned a ton. Thank you to everyone who makes this organization function! And thank you to new and old friends alike. -- The Consortium for the Study of Women’s Sexual Wellness announces the expansion of its Scientific Advisory Board with the addition of two leaders in the field of Female Sexual Medicine and founders and past-presidents of the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health, Drs. Irwin Goldstein and Sue Goldstein. Dr. Irwin Goldstein is a world-renowned pioneer, researcher and clinician in FSD. Sue Goldstien is broadly experienced in FSD clinical trials and patient management. These two individuals will join Drs. Alan Altman, Anita Clayton, Cindy Meston, Peter Fodor, James Pfaus, James Simon, Nicole Prause, Raymond Rosen and Sheryl Kingsberg on the SAB. The Mission of the Consortium is to advance science in the field of women’s sexual wellness and facilitate this field to be medical adjacent employing the tools from the field of sexual medicine. No longer will female consumers be denied real science and real efficacy data on products that provides more than a promise.

Altarum’s experience ignites innovation. In 2022, Altarum was awarded a five-year grant to continue leading the National Coalition for Sexual Health (NCSH). This fast-growing coalition, with over 300 members, develops evidence-based tools and resources to promote sexual health as a core element of overall health and well-being across the lifespan. The NCSH encourages open dialogue about sexual health and promotes the delivery of high quality sexual health information and health care services nationwide. 🔍 Discover how we’re advancing public health through our work on two new sexual health projects, building on the strengths and previous work of the NCSH. https://lnkd.in/ezE5fVcy This work explores two important topical areas of research and communication: - A national multi-media communications campaign to encourage and equip young adults to talk openly about sexual health and relationship topics with their partners. - Creating and testing motivational messaging and designs to increase the uptake of the mpox vaccine by the public, and to explore health care providers’ knowledge, attitudes, and practices relating to sexual history taking and mpox. 🔍 Explore this thriving coalition of 300+ members working together to improve the sexual health of Americans nationwide. https://lnkd.in/eKB9tsE 🔍 Follow the National Coalition for Sexual Health on LinkedIn https://lnkd.in/eQsZ6QRQ We are a nonprofit organization focused on improving the health of individuals with fewer financial resources and populations disenfranchised by the health care system. Today, on World Sexual Health Day, we celebrate the importance of promoting awareness around sexual health, well-being, and rights. I want to stress the need for a comprehensive and inclusive approach to sexual health, one that prioritizes early detection and prevention of diseases like Cervical Cancer. I recently collaborated with the research group on sexual and reproductive health at the University of Cuenca, Ecuador, on a literature review of p16/Ki-67 dual staining as a predictive tool for cervical cancer screening. This research highlights the vital role of advanced diagnostics in protecting women’s health. Let's continue to advocate for accessible and effective healthcare solutions as a fundamental aspect of sexual well-being. Here is the article ➡ https://lnkd.in/dJT2zdHa

Research associate in participatory healthcare at Bern University of Applied Sciences, Co-founder & president of Long Covid Switzerland, Patient advocate. At heart still a journalist and science comms specialist.
The new call from SNSF Swiss National Science Foundation within the National Research Programme "Gender Medicine and Health" (NRP 83) is aimed at addressing #longcovid #mecfs. We at Long Covid Switzerland are happy to cooperate on a proposal! “NRP 83 aims to provide a knowledge base for an evidence-based implementation of sex/gender aspects in health research, medicine and public health in Switzerland. It strives to (a) produce context-sensitive and transdisciplinary knowledge to understand sex/gender-related aspects in health; (b) improve and adapt clinical practice to include sex/gender specificities; and to (c) integrate a gender mainstreaming approach as an elemental part of the health system. By calling for research projects and through coordinated activities, the programme sets out to bring about a change in practice in Switzerland.” Specifically it mentions under improving and adapting clinical practice: “Improve quality of medical practice for understudied health problems specific to women or with a higher prevalence among women (e.g. #endometriosis, #longcovid). https://lnkd.in/eQp_Fbr7

❤️Today is World Sexual Health day! 🔈Today is a day to promote a greater social awareness on sexual health around the world. WHO refers to sexual health as a state of emotional, physical, mental and social well-being related to sexuality. It is a reminder to prioritise education, support and training for everyone’s well-being. 🤝Work is being done to strengthen research and programmatic work on elements of sexual health which have received low funding and attention such as endometriosis, menopause and menstrual health. 🔗Find out more: https://lnkd.in/eE9GsJyQ 🔗Check out Evidence Aid’s related summaries on sexual health: https://lnkd.in/dF4jA_xC
