#goodpractiseoftheday Nestlé Panama promotes regenerative agriculture practices on the farms of its dairy suppliers 🥛. To promote sustainability and work towards a supply chain free of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Under its Dairy Promotion Plan, Nestlé provides national producers with agricultural technicians who offer guidance and training on best practices for milk quality, milking techniques, nutrition, and animal health, among other areas. Additionally, the company launched the Regenerative Farms program with its dairy suppliers. Regenerative agriculture is a farming approach designed to conserve and restore agricultural land and its ecosystem. This practice aims to maintain, sustain, improve, and restore previously degraded areas. The outcomes of regenerative agriculture serve as a foundation for sustainable food production. The General Manager of Nestlé Panama, Rodrigo Romera, explained that the reduction of GHG emissions is due to practices such as: minimum plowing, soil cover, manure management and reduction of the use of agrochemicals. He added “We work intensively to support the adoption of regenerative practices and provide technical support and assistance to milk producers to boost productivity, efficiency, dairy quality and good practices that regenerate soils and ecosystems,” He added that this not only improves the quality of its products, but also promotes a regenerative food system, and its global goal is for 20% of its key ingredients to come from regenerative farming practices by 2025, and 50% by 2030. A Complete Guide for Effective Microorganisms (EM) Market [PDF Guide] 𝐈𝐧 𝐃𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐬 𝐃𝐨𝐰𝐧𝐥𝐨𝐚𝐝 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐏𝐃𝐅 𝐂𝐨𝐩𝐲 : https://lnkd.in/getRiSbS In the growing field of sustainable agriculture, the use of Effective Microorganisms (EM) has gained significant traction. EM refers to a mix of beneficial microorganisms that are introduced into soil or water to improve crop yield, reduce the need for chemical inputs, and promote overall ecosystem health. As we enter 2024, the global EM market is poised for significant growth, driven by an increasing emphasis on sustainable practices, organic farming, and environmental consciousness. Market Trends and Growth Drivers One of the major trends propelling the growth of the EM market is the shift towards sustainable agriculture. With climate change and soil degradation presenting significant threats to global food security, farmers and agribusinesses are turning to environmentally friendly solutions. EM provides an effective means to enhance soil health, increase crop productivity, and reduce the need for chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Additionally, consumer demand for organic and non-GMO produce has risen sharply, encouraging farmers to adopt organic practices. EM plays a critical role in organic agriculture, as it aligns with the principles of reducing chemical inputs and promoting natural soil fertility. The versatility of EM also contributes to market growth. Beyond agriculture, EM finds applications in wastewater treatment, composting, animal husbandry, and even household cleaning. This wide range of uses makes EM a valuable tool in various industries, further expanding its market potential. Opportunities and Potential Markets Emerging markets in Asia, Africa, and Latin America offer significant growth opportunities for EM products. These regions have a large agricultural workforce and are looking to modernize their farming practices. Governments and NGOs in these regions are increasingly supporting sustainable agriculture initiatives, creating a favorable environment for EM adoption. In developed markets, consumers are driving demand for organic and eco-friendly products, pushing retailers and food producers to seek more sustainable supply chains. This shift creates opportunities for EM suppliers to partner with large-scale agricultural operations and food production companies. Who knew swapping pesticides for ladybugs could turn into a global movement? 🌾 In recent years, we've seen an explosion in the adoption of ecological and organic farming practices. This shift is driven by environmental awareness, demand for healthier food options, and a push towards sustainable agriculture. 🌱🌍 Key Highlights: 1. 🌍 Global Expansion: Organic farming is now practiced in 191 countries, with over 76 million hectares of land managed organically by 3.7 million farmers. This global movement is not just a trend; it's a growing industry that reflects a significant shift in agricultural practices. 2. 📈 Market Growth: The organic food and drink market reached nearly €125 billion in 2021, showcasing a consistent growth despite economic challenges. The U.S. remains the largest market, followed by Germany and France. Seems like people really do love their pesticide-free apples. 3. 🍏 Consumer Demand: There's been a notable rise in the consumption of organic vegetables and fruits due to their higher nutritional value and reduced chemical residues. This trend is particularly strong in regions like Europe and North America, where organic products are becoming a staple in many households. 4. 🌿 Sustainability and Innovation: Organic farming practices enhance biodiversity, improve soil health, and promote ecological balance. Innovations in organic fertilizers, pest management, and crop rotation are continually improving the efficiency and sustainability of these systems. Mother Nature would be so proud of our high-tech compost piles. 5. 💡 Challenges and Opportunities: While organic farming offers numerous benefits, it also faces challenges such as higher labor costs and lower yields compared to conventional farming. However, the premium prices of organic products often offset these challenges, providing profitable opportunities for farmers. Turns out, there's gold in those organic hills after all! Organic farming is paving the way for a more sustainable and healthier future. 🌱 Who knew going green could make your wallet green too? 🌱 A New Era for Regenerative Organic Agriculture in the U.S. 🌾 With organic food sales on the rise and only 2% of U.S. farmland certified organic, the spotlight is now on regenerative organic farming. This approach focuses on enhancing soil health, carbon sequestration, and biodiversity support. Mad Agriculture and its division, Mad Markets, are at the forefront of this movement, having recently acquired Timeless Seeds—a key player in the organic sector based in Montana. The primary aim of this acquisition is to establish an infrastructure that connects farmers with buyers, thus increasing the availability of regenerative organic ingredients for larger brands and distributors. By facilitating this transition, the initiative not only aids farmers in shifting from conventional to organic farming but also ensures that sustainable, healthier food options become more accessible and affordable in the market. This collaborative and investment-focused model demonstrates how impactful processing infrastructure can be in fostering the growth of regenerative farming across America. It sets a remarkable example for the industry, showcasing the potential of collective efforts in driving positive change in our food systems. #Sustainability #OrganicFarming #RegenerativeAgriculture #FoodSystems #FarmToTable Sources: (AgroPages), (GreenStories)
