I enjoyed some great conversation with two senior managers from McKinsey & Company and EY yesterday at the brilliant Toqio annual lunch. Here are a couple of things that we all passionately agreed with. 1. Embedded finance is reaching Product-Market fit: the wider fintech industry has seen the enormous potential of embedded finance for years now. The difference is that now the market agrees. There are large scale examples of adoption and the market is in buying mode. 2. Content is critical and cannot be delegated: we live in an attention economy where high-quality content is critical for credibility. This cannot be outsourced to junior team members or third-parties without becoming shallow. Subject matter expertise resides with senior leaders and they need to allocate time to creating this. Both were highly active in authoring material themselves. Finally, it’s been a great year but I sense that people are in need of a good rest at Xmas to recharge the batteries, re-centre on family and get ready for a big 2024. #fintech #banking #finance #embeddedfinance

Heightened uncertainty and increasingly brittle supply chains brought about by high inflation and geopolitical tension have made the jobs of middle-market CFOs far more challenging.   Our new report, in collaboration with PYMNTS, found that 60% of middle-market firms with revenues between $100mn - $250mn and 40% of middle-market firms between $750mn - $1bn report significant challenges in managing payments.
