Not all applications of AI are things I'd choose to invest in building. Could we stick some kind of clever GPT on top of websites to automate building difficult experiments without writing code? Probably. Do I want to remove opportunities for developers to exist in this field? Not really. Could we automate sifting through 1000s of segments to look for patterns? Yes. Would any analyst be there clicking on filters and the Reload button 1000 times that I'm gonna put out of a job? Doubt it. Its a massive grey area, but I'm much happier with the product team here investing time building tooling that pushes the limit of what we can achieve than to directly replace people. Hopefully if we're focused on pushing the limits and boundaries, we might make people successful enough to justify hiring more people, not less. Food for thought. Just because we can, doesn't mean we should.

WHERE IS OUR TECHNICAL COFOUNDER?! I’ve heard this often enough to provide a useful chip on my shoulder, despite never having a viable candidate in front of me. In many ways, I’m astounded how far we’ve been able to take this company without a true data-side technical leader. We’ve got phenomenally talented folks leading software engineering, product, and data experience + design, but nobody with scar tissue + wisdom from building and scaling data products as a data science expert in place to lead that group.  More than one Venture Capitalist has remarked, “call us at Series A when you’ve got a CTO”, and without ever pining for that role during our day-to-day, I’ll acknowledge those moments stuck with me. I knew that once I moved forward without a day-one technical co-founder, it would have been very difficult to attract the caliber of leader we are looking for until now. Amazing folks around our business like David Gonzo Gonzalez have helped us learn that the right candidate must also be at a stage of their lives which makes for a mutual fit. As we approach two years since our first staff hires with incredible commercial and financial momentum on our side yet inevitable challenges around reaching Product-Market-Fit, the time has come to seek this role. We are looking for someone really special to be our Chief Technology Officer at Gemini Sports Analytics. To be clear we’re looking for a data product expert who thinks about why things are built, how they are delivered to market, where puzzle pieces fit; an empathetic leader of different types of people & skillsets.
