Although the latest REC report shows a continued decline in job vacancies across the UK, there is cautious optimism from REC’s Chief Executive Neil Carberry. He highlights that the labour market slowdown may be nearing a turning point with the pace of decline in permanent hiring slowing down, and temporary hiring has also improved. This could mean that very soon we could see a resurgence of recruitment activity that has remained relatively stagnant for so long. As firms regain confidence in the market, more opportunities will present themselves to job seekers.
