Huge congratulations to Generare for securing €5 million in seed funding to accelerate their cloning and biosynthetics platform, used to find new medicines and antibiotics in soil bacteria! 🧬 🧪 Founded by Vincent Libis and Guillaume Vandenesch, Generare is revolutionising drug discovery - here’s how: • 500+ of today’s drugs came from harvesting medicines from microbes but their discovery fell off because the tech didn’t exist to find the harder-to-find compounds • Generare’s cloning platform is revitalising this, at scale, having already found 100 hidden molecules that could be used for antibiotics, anticancer and other drugs • It takes bacteria in soil and breaks down their genetic code to build a library of untapped bioactive molecules, called Natural Products (NPs), at speed • Generare has already signed its first pilot with AUROBAC THERAPEUTICS, and its work has been recognised by the European Research Council (ERC) and the i-Lab Prize We’re so excited to see what the future holds for Generare!
