🌿 The Perfect Venue: What I Look for When Venue-Finding for Clients 🌿 Yesterday, I attended a workshop at Bowcliffe Hall Estate - a venue I know well, and it reminded me exactly what I prioritise when sourcing spaces for my clients. While I was there as an attendee, my venue-finding hat never truly comes off. The right setting can elevate the entire experience, and here’s why Bowcliffe Hall ticked every box: 1. First Impressions Matter: From the moment I arrived, the experience was positive. Ample parking, including electric car charging stations, and a welcoming atmosphere created by the venue’s staff— the gardeners took the time to offer a friendly "good morning" with a smile. These small touches make a big difference. 2. Setting and Ambience: As I walked to the building, the autumnal colours and beautifully maintained grounds were a breath of fresh air. Inside, floor-to-ceiling windows showcased views of horses galloping in the fields and red kites soaring above. A venue’s setting can dramatically influence the mood of the event. Here, the peaceful, stunning backdrop created a relaxed, focused environment—ideal for a productive day. 3. Practicality Meets Elegance: It’s not just about beauty; a great venue must function seamlessly. Bowcliffe Hall offered flawless service, from catering to amenities, ensuring everything ran smoothly. Whether it's a workshop, corporate meeting, or event, these details can make or break the day. 4. A Recharge Oasis: This venue doesn’t just meet needs—it provides a space to recharge, which is especially important during busy times of year. It allowed me and my colleagues to refocus and engage fully with the content of the day. Choosing the right location for a retreat is more than just picking a beautiful spot—it’s about finding a place that supports the experience we want to create. Over the years, I’ve refined my process to ensure every retreat offers a space that feels welcoming, intentional, and aligned with my values. Here’s what I look for when selecting a retreat location: How does the space make me feel? I always ask myself: Does this space invite you in? Is the air fresh, and do I feel like I can breathe a little easier here? Does the atmosphere promote relaxation and connection? Ethical alignment I work with venues that understand the value of the experience I’m creating. Are they flexible, collaborative, and committed to making every participant feel seen? Off the beaten track I’m drawn to hidden gems—locations that deserve more visibility and offer something unique to guests. These spots often provide a sense of discovery and adventure. Flexibility and thoughtfulness A retreat requires flexibility. I need venues that can adapt to changing group dynamics or external factors, ensuring everything runs smoothly. While aesthetics matter, it’s how a place feels that makes it memorable. Guests often rave about the warmth and thoughtfulness of a venue rather than just its looks.
