So proud, best presentation at IMAD2024! Joachim Sejr Skovbo Kristensen, MD, PhD student, took the first prize at this years IMAD symposium! He presented our surprising observation that the growth rate of AAA is half in AAA of The DANCAVAS trial compared to the VIVA AAA screening cohort. Smoking was similar, a bit more were diabetic, BMI was equal, - the only reason we can guess of is the prescriped statin was 40 mg of atorvastatin in the DANCAVAS trial compared to 40 mg Simvastin in the VIVA trial. An advanced Pharmacoepdiomogical registry study exploiting the unique access to the Danish nationwide registries is being set up for clarification.

Highly recommend learning more about this (open) source of data, unprecedented in terms of type and quality but also in terms of the rigor and transparency with which it is curated, structured, and maintained!

This week, I had the opportunity to attend the 3rd Virtual International Conference on Carotenoids, where I was pleased to present the results of an experiment I've been working on as part of my Master's Thesis: "Evaluating metabolic programming by β-carotene during the perinatal stage in mice lacking or expressing BCO1." It was a great opportunity to update current knowledge on the multiple health benefits of carotenoids.

Check out our new publication "A systematic review of studies on the diagnostics and classification system used in surgically treated, acute, isolated, unstable syndesmotic injury: a plea for uniform definition of syndesmotic injuries." has just been published with EFORT Open access. Diagnosing syndesmotic instability still remains a challenge in clinical practice. Although several studies have recently focused on WBCT to diagnose syndesmotic instability, this technique is still not widely available and the image analysis is not part of the available packages. Based on a systematic review, we present our best-evidence approach to diagnose and classify syndesmotic injuries at the MUM Muskuloskelettales Universitätszentrum München.
