The voices of more than 375,000 students from our research at Challenge Success confirm what we know from the field: too many K-12 students struggle with their well-being, engagement, and sense of belonging in school. Our culture’s overemphasis on grades, test scores, and rankings is often in opposition to fostering students’ well-being, engagement, and belonging in school, leading to unhealthy levels of stress. Donate to our movement to cultivate educational systems that value each student for their unique identities, assets, and individual definitions of success and effectively prepare them for the variety of opportunities and challenges they will encounter in school and beyond. https://lnkd.in/g-9guFUM

In many communities across the U.S., children and families face financial barriers that prevent them from accessing quality education and opportunities for success. Research highlights how these financial constraints can negatively affect students' academic journeys. Many talented individuals are unable to pursue their dreams and fulfill their potential without adequate resources. At DBG, we recognize that addressing financial barriers, as well as other barriers impeding progress, is crucial to creating an inclusive and equitable learning environment. For this reason, our out-of-school time programming is 100% FREE to all students. We are committed to dismantling these barriers and reshaping the landscape of educational equity through our innovative approach. Our goal is to inspire students from all backgrounds to thrive by providing scholarships, subsidized resources, and financial assistance. We believe that addressing the need through understanding the root causes of inequity has the power to transcend socioeconomic barriers and create transformative change. That's why we work tirelessly to remove all obstacles and invest in the future leaders and change-makers of tomorrow. However, we cannot do it alone. We need the support of others to continue our mission of inspiring students and removing barriers from their paths. Aligned partners and community support enable us to make a tangible difference in the lives of students, ensuring that no one is left behind due to constraints. Together, let's build a future where every student has the opportunity to thrive and succeed. 🌟 Visit our website for more information on how you can support our students on their path to success: https://lnkd.in/eyZ9b7_f

With forward thinking leaders, anything is possible! - Pinpoint an area of concern. - Research how others have effectively addressed the concern. - Involve the community to create an actionable mission plan. - Apply for grants that align with the plan. - Use the funds as agreed upon. These steps involve action research and community outreach. I will preach day in and day out about the necessity of buy-in within the community. Everyone’s voice needs a microphone to ensure an equitable, actionable, solution-oriented outcome leads to success!

Pittsburgh Scholar House has been awarded a two-year $200,000 grant to enhance our Wayfinders Program. This funding, for general operating support, was provided by The Pittsburgh Foundation. The Wayfinders Program, PSH’s flagship program, provides economic empowerment, family enrichment, and academic support through a cohort-based model. “Pittsburgh Scholar House is extremely grateful to The Pittsburgh Foundation for their generous support,” said Dr. Diamonte Walker, CEO of PSH. “This funding will help PSH to build additional capacity around the Wayfinders Program with a specific focus on enabling degree completion and increasing educational access for single-parent students through our Wayfinders University. The funding will also strengthen the two-generational elements of PSH’s residential programming.” For 80 years, The Pittsburgh Foundation has focused on improving the Pittsburgh region through philanthropy. Education is a basic needs area of grantmaking at the Foundation. It strives to ensure access to high-quality in-class and out-of-school time programs. Read more: https://ow.ly/hi5O50UORlh
