In the cannabis space, collaboration is more beneficial than competition, according to several CEOs. Will Breakell, the founder of Blazy Susan, launched a collaboration with the Grateful Dead in November 2023 - and the line of rolling papers, ashtrays, and cannabis grinders has sold over 1 million dollars of smoking accessories. Brands on the East Coast are even partnering with others in the cannabis space. Based in Lafayette, New York, Ayrloom has lent out its large extraction and processing facilities to farmers. Thanks to their efforts, Ayrloom now has a network of trusted growers to bring branded flowers to dispensaries across NY. Their ultimate collaboration, however, was partnering with seven other New York processing facilities to establish the Empire Cannabis Manufacturer's Alliance - which advocates their priorities to lawmakers and regulatory bodies. While collaboration has the power to increase your bottom line, working with others in the industry has the power to make a difference. Have you successfully collaborated with others in the cannabis industry? As I come with so much admiration, humility and quite frankly, just appreciation to be able to have a voice in this space. & for that I thank everyone who help open this space! But after being apart of certain discussions and posts, I think (just my opinion) I think we aren’t addressing the real issues! As I’m definitely sure we understand where this industry has come, just like I’m sure the people who really got us here, will never be properly acknowledged or compensated! I’m not sure why people can’t seem to see how this thing looks ahead. & as I so passionately believe that some things & laws put in place are apart of the process of those who tend to benefit the most from cannabis & hemp! Now, with decline of medical cannabis sales after rec got introduced and now with this rescheduling announcement crap, which is an entirely different discussion. Do we really think pharmaceutical industry isn’t weighing in heavy? With the competition against liquor industry, we think there taking such a big to that 260+ billion dollar a year budget gracefully? Do we really think, that after all the value a cannabis felon has in the system for illegal convictions behind those bars bring to these institutions and investors, that this “Social Equity” labeling really has merit? Or the government agencies, that’s benefiting just agree morally, to the terms that makes the most sense? Good luck! & yet we seem to be falling for the bait.. & I make these points because, I am the other side! I am a minority, who understands the inner workings of survival. & as we continue to not only face a number of challenges, some are more based off what the industry says ( data and analytics) and some I feel are more personally driven by ignorance. If the opportunity was offered to get into alcohol before the beginning or during the beginning stages and you could’ve invested or applied for a license before the big company took over, where would you be? Now ask yourself the same question in regards to cannabis. And we disregarded it how would you feel? Remember, wasn’t a tremendous amount of variety of alcoholic beverages before the MSO’s & commercial success. After, endless selection of GM beers🤔 stay woke!

The California Department of Cannabis Control has issued a mandatory recall for Mike Tyson’s Undisputed Truth Cannabis Flower products due to contamination with a type of mold. Last week, California’s Department of Cannabis Control (DCC) issued a mandatory recall for a Mike Tyson-branded product, Tyson Undisputed Cannabis Flower, due to contamination with Aspergillus sp., a type of mold. The recall, published on April 9, affects multiple products sold after August 24, 2023, including the TOAD and TADPOLES batches, distributed across several counties including Alameda, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. The flower was grown by manufacturer Northern Emeralds, who also partnered with rapper Future for a product collaboration last year. This incident follows on the heels of other recent product recalls in California’s cannabis industry, which has been plagued this year by issues related to both product safety and testing integrity. Among industry insiders, the practice of “lab-shopping” — where cannabis manufacturers shop around for labs that might provide inflated or fabricated test results to increase sales or obfuscate the presence of contaminants — has been a controversial subject for years. The incident also brings fresh attention to concerns about celebrity-backed cannabis brands, which critics argue may prioritize marketing over product quality and safety. Consumers who have purchased any of the affected Tyson Undisputed products are advised to check their packages for specific batch and UID numbers listed in the recall notice. Those with matching numbers should dispose of the products or return them to the retailer for proper disposal. The DCC has also instructed all licensees with recalled products in their inventory to follow specific procedures to address the recall and has offered assistance via recalls@cannabis.ca.gov." - Ganjapreneur

Is one of Massachusetts' largest cannabis operators breaking the rules designed to promote equity? Ascend Wellness Holdings (CSE: AAWH.U / OTCQX:AAWH) is one the most profitable and best-connected dispensaries. They've been lobbying to consolidate more of the market by pushing to lift the state's cannabis ownership license cap. But recent reporting suggests that an Ascend owner may have violated the very cap they're trying to change, raising serious concerns about enforcement of these critical policies and motivations for the proposed change. 🚨Black Economic Council of Massachusetts, Inc., Equitable Opportunities Now, and the social equity business owners of the Mass. Cannabis Equity Council are calling for a full investigation. The Cannabis Control Commission and legislators must review Ascend and every license owner for compliance and launch a tip line to ensure this crucial policy is enforced. 👉 Read more from Chris Faraone's coverage in Talking Joints Memo: https://lnkd.in/eg8VquQp

"If there's one thing I've learned in the cannabis industry, it's that radical self-reliance has been crucial to success—but so are collaboration and a strong sense of community...Indeed, cannabis entrepreneurs would be wise to take a page from the book of marginalized communities that have successfully found ways to push back against systemic disenfranchisement that pushed these groups to the brink of disaster." Vince C. Ning, co-founder and co-CEO, NABIS Wise words from a true industry leader. Collective action and collaborative competition are the only way we'll save the #cannabisindustry from being taken over by #bigpharma, #AG, or the kind of unchecked regulation that continues to destabilize what would have otherwise become successfully established and thriving markets (i.e., California / New York).
