Jammu & Kashmir is set to go to polls in three phases between September 18 and October 1, 10 years after the last elections took place in 2014. Elections will take place in 90 Assembly Constituencies after delimitation and the results will be announced on October 4.

The first phase of the Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir began on Wednesday, with 24 out of the 90 seats in the Union territory going to the polls. These are the first Assembly elections since the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019. A turnout of 58.19% was recorded till 5 pm, according to data from the Election Commission. Kishtwar district registering the highest turnout at 77.2% and Pulwama the lowest at 43.8%. Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge urged people in Jammu and Kashmir to vote in large numbers. #mediosindia #JammuakashmirElection2024 #JammuKashmirAssemblyElection2024
