Do you ever find yourself feeling misunderstood, or helpless in an encounter at work or at home? If so, consider using our 5 Universal Truths and 5-Step in such a way, and in such a manner, that you dignify and respect your contact in a different light then you ever have before! Our founder, Dr. George J. Thompson, PhD made our lives exponentially easier and more efficient when he decided to stop looking at how we are different, and focus in on how we are the same. Take a minute to think about that. Look at the below charts, and you tell us, do you want to be treated with Dignity and Respect? Do you want to be asked to do something rather than being told to do it, at work or at home? Do you want to be told WHY you are being asked to do something? Do you want to be given options rather than threats? And finally, when you make a mistake, do you want a second chance to do things right? If so, then why not interact this way to your current client, customer, contact, supervisor, and even your family at home? Use our 5-Step to begin implementing this into your daily vocabulary. We are in compete control over the experience of our life. What did the little voice in your head say to that? Read it again and listen closely. If it was anything other than “yes, I am”, you are living as a victim. I have been put into many situations and experiences I didn’t have control over. That is pretty much every morning with my toddler these days. But I am still in control over the experience because I am in control over my response. All of our outcomes and results are products of our responses to circumstances and situations. I very rarely control what happens to me, but I do my best to control the response. How are you responding today? #ontheballpresident #traininganddevelopment #personaldevelopment #profesionaldevelopment

Practice what you preach: This is a clip of us coaches practicing broad jumps to SL Bounds that we are working on with some of our athletes. I am new to these, so it’s imperative that I learn the skill before coaching it. To be able to properly coach someone, they may need a visual representation of the exercise, and you should be ready at all times to demonstrate an exercise. In fact, you should be showing every movement before you assign it. If you don’t know what it feels like to perform the movement, there could be a disconnect between you and your athletes when they have questions. Know what you’re doing, why you’re doing it, and how you’re doing it ✅

Happy National Sticker Day! Today is also Self Care Saturday which gives me an opportunity to talk about one of my favorite forms of Self Care: traveling to self-defense conferences. Self-defense training is fun! The subject of self-defense, non-consensual violence, is upsetting but training for it is actually a lot of fun. And it’s good for you. A big part of my life coaching is in exploring the intersection of life coaching with self-defense soft-skills. What does that have to do with National Sticker Day? Five years ago I traveled to Violence Dynamics in Washington DC. My grandparents and aunts and uncles are buried in Arlington National Cemetery, so it was a good opportunity to go visit them. At VioDy DC, I met and befriended Ben Kennedy (in this photo) and his sister, MacKenzie, and their dad, Bill. When I met them, Ben was 22 years old and he was already one of the most impressive people I’ve ever met in my life! A few months later, Bill invited me to come to their home dojo in Ohio for a Rory Miller seminar (Rory is a mutual friend), promising me that I could play with Ben’s weapons. That seminar was in November 2019. A few months later, during the Covid Lockdown Ben started posting cool videos on TikTok and IG as @Instructor_Bensei, and he very quickly became famous. If any of you also follow him, I want you to know that he is even more awesome in real life than he is on social media. Ben’s mom is an amazing artist, she designed this sticker for him of his hand holding his meteor hammer. Ben gave it to me a couple years ago at a 500 Rising women’s self-defense conference in Minnesota. Self-care is anything that makes you feel important to yourself. Self-defense and martial art training are my self-care because I’m telling myself I’m worth defending. And it’s fun! Traveling to self-defense conferences and making new friends is the ultimate expression of this. What do you do for self-care? How do you tell yourself that you are important to you? #SelfCareSaturday #SelfCare
