Executive Coach | Facilitator | Speaker | Hired by busy corporate professionals who are overloaded with responsibilities discover how to succeed at work and stop sacrificing their personal lives
Carewashing is still prevalent in today's environments. Even though studies show again and again that actually caring can not only help the employee but also the bottom line. I am glad that many companies offer benefits including dollars to pay for coaching. It's unfortunately usually up to you to make it happen. It's worth it to take some time to see what benefits are actually available. And if it includes coaching give me a holler. https://lnkd.in/g-7gUS2Q

Open letter to leaders who seek a greater understanding of accountability, compassion, wellbeing, health and safety. Your team has a lot to accomplish, so you can’t afford to have anyone on board who consistently feels let down. You need a team full of people who feel included. That is what leads to accountability. But building an accountable team is easier said than done. You can’t make someone else accountable. You could use threats, penalties, or the silent treatment to let them know they've let you down. Unfortunately, our typical language for accountability evokes fear. Your challenge is to create accountability using inclusion and belonging instead of fear. When you’re an inclusive manager, your team knows that mistakes are allowed, understood, and even valuable when used as a learning tool. As an empathetic manager, you flex what you expect when the situation warrants. But as with most leadership behaviors, you can have too much of a good thing; overdoing it on compassion can create complacency. So, how do you find the balance between accountability and compassion or psychological safety? Failing to do so results in loss of talent and poor performance. Read OHS Voices from the Resistance to elevate your understanding and find that balance. It all starts with creating clear and shared expectations. If you short-change the upfront dialogue and fail to answer the why, what, and who questions. If you fail to include those affected in the conversation, you’ll likely find that the outputs what your employees deliver will miss the mark. #safetymanagement #safetyprofessionals #psychologicalsafety #psychosocial #leadership #leadershipdevelopment https://lnkd.in/gNvr7DWZ

I’ve had the privilege of working with the amazing team at 3-1-5 Health Club for several years. When we first began, I introduced a 12-week programme to help the SLT establish a strong, ‘people first’ culture. The goal was to create an environment where every team member and the entire organisation could flourish. Through a mix of one-on-one coaching and team sessions, we developed a creed that shaped our beliefs and behaviours, guiding us forward. Like many businesses, the Club faced significant challenges during the Covid pandemic. However, thanks to the determination, spirit, and resilience of the incredible teams, we managed to navigate the crisis and continue achieving year-on-year growth. . . . Here’s where the benefits of coaching are seen. ➡ Reduced Staff Turnover: We’ve significantly lowered the rate at which staff leave the company. ➡ Career Growth : Several team members have earned promotions. ➡ Improved Communication: Teams now communicate more effectively, and anticipate and tackle challenges with improved critical thinking. ➡ Efficient Meetings: We’ve optimised the structure, timing and output of meetings. ➡ Clearer Focus: The business now has a sharper focus and clearer objectives. It’s been incredibly rewarding to see the positive changes and growth at 3-1-5 Health Club, and I’m happy to continue supporting their inspirational journey. w/ Sean Thornton, Deena Gillan, KJ Dixon, Sarah McGuinness #coaching #change #culture #dothework #highperformanceteams #productivity #results #simplify

No mood shaming, no gaslighting, no toxic positivity, no spiritual bypassing, NOT YOUR AVERAGE COACH
In an unregulated profession, it is on us to rise to standards that legitimize our industry. For a reason, continuing education is a foundational piece of patient safety for therapists and counselors. Coaches should want to grow their skills to ensure that our industry serves clients at the highest level of accountability possible. https://lnkd.in/gsWaDJWu #coaching #lifecoaching #coachtraining #lifecoachtraining #coachingandethics #thecoachingguild

💡Fault-Finding vs. Solution-Finding in Public Health Supervision💡 Supervision in public health is often misconstrued as a fault-finding exercise. While identifying shortcomings is crucial, it should never overshadow the primary goal: 📈improvement. ❎Fault-finding focuses on identifying errors, blaming individuals, and creating a culture of fear. This approach stifles creativity, innovation, and a sense of ownership among staff. ✅Solution-finding, on the other hand, is about identifying challenges, analyzing root causes, and collaboratively developing strategies to overcome them. It fosters a culture of learning, growth, and empowerment. 🤝Effective supervision should be a partnership built on trust, open communication, and mutual respect. It involves providing support, guidance, and mentorship, while also holding team members accountable for their performance. 💡By shifting the focus from fault-finding to solution-finding, we can create a more positive and productive work environment that ultimately leads to better public health outcomes. #publichealth #healthcare #leadership #management #teamwork #supervision #accountability #culturechange #workplaceculture #lessonsfromfield #employeeengagement #solutionsfocused

PSYCHOLOGICAL SAFETY IN THE WORKPLACE MATTERS. Many thanks to UC Berkeley Haas Business School DEIB Director Katrina Koski, MDR, and my facilitation partner, UC Berkeley School of Public Health DEIB Director, Che Abram, for the 2-Day Business Student Leader Virtual Training Series invitation to explore, define, examine and practice #PsychologicalSafety in Organizations. I asked this question below to start the exploration process. What came of it was the realization that "practicing the answers" to this question is just the start to creating Psychological Safety for yourself and your organization. How would you answer this question within your team or organization? #GroupCommitments #BraveryAgreements #RePAIRTrainingSeries #FindingYourWell
