Perplexity is now running on Next.js App Router. This is quite exciting because one of the inspirations for App Router & RSC was to democratize the extremely dynamic rendering power of systems like Google Search and Facebook. When you search for “weather in SF” or “Olympics medal leaderboard”, Google is able to dynamically render and stream data together with UI that the client has never seen before. Unlike SPAs or other monolithically constructed apps, product teams are empowered to ship and experiment without the fear that their work slows down the rest of the system. If you thought it was already fast, stay tuned… https://perplexity.ai

The shift to using Next.js's App Router and React Server Components (RSC) is a big deal for Perplexity. It means the website can now create and show information much faster, similar to how Google quickly shows search results like the weather. This approach also lets developers make changes quickly without slowing things down, leading to a better experience for users. Overall, it's an exciting improvement that will make Perplexity even faster and more dynamic.

Guillermo Rauch, I think they are also using or at least testing Vercel AI SDK Generative UI as well, I saw a few things I feel generated on the fly and it's awesome. I have been daily driving Perplexity for the last 3 months and rarely used Google after the switch. It's been very useful especially when I am looking for deep answers. Aravind Srinivas

Even React is taking cues from Next.js with stretching beyond the frontend and becoming full-stack. Over time, it could be a matter of reaching parity with existing backend tools. What an interesting possibility.

Superpowers! Do glad i chose nextjs, vercel, supabase and upstash as my main stack. Preplexity is amazing been using the pro version for as Long as i remember, RSC is amazing makes you never wanna go back to plain text AI apps. Good times ahead! Keep on rocking Vercel 💪 my startup Caipa seems to align perfectly.

Look, I’m stoked for Perplexity and it’s users! But. Plz spare a thought for devs *trying* to adopt Next 🙏 App router is great, but daaaaamn the docs are out of date. New devs are stuck in a maze of outdated page vs app router docs 😢

Looking forward to this!!!🚀
