Living in a fashion capital has caused me to re examine the culture of apparel and the statement apparel makes in our world today. Fashion is about identity and communication. Every choice we make says something about how we perceive ourselves and how we are to be perceived by others. We communicate our values, our style and our approach to life through the way we dress. The simple penguin suit is a thing of the past. Men walked the red carpet last night expressing their own fashion taste and personal flair. A big similarity amongst Hollywood's leading men was a little added sparkle on the lapel and a flared trouser. Also several men rocked a boot and some with a slight heel. Whether you're a fan or not, I think much of what we saw can trickle down into our own closets. My favorite is the elevated lapel pin. You can easily add something sparkly to your jacket at your next occasion formal or casual. Most of us probably don't even need to really look too far. Before heading out to purchase your bling I would inquire with your wife, girlfriend, or even mother-in-law. They may very well have what you are looking for. If you are unable to find inspiration there I would then check out a local resale or vintage shop. Elevating your dress is about the details. Last night, while doom-scrolling on YouTube, I stumbled upon this documentary. A German documentary maker is going to the source - not an easy journey- of the rose quartz industry in #Madagascar. In this case, the emphasis is on beauty (and those believing in the healing properties). But do these same stones end up in #jewelry as well? This led me to wonder how traceable gemstones are. The #jewelryindustry is going to great lengths to create awareness among the jewelry companies on sustainability and transparency issues. So much is going well in jewelry thanks to the trade organizations involved in this process. It's high on the agenda, but how about the less precious stones? How traceable are they? Congratulations ❤️🔥 🎊 to Barbie 💖 Bella Ramsey & Anthony Ramos presented the Critics Choice award for I am Just Ken “I’m Just Ken” arrives onscreen like an elaborate bit, or an excuse for Ryan Gosling to flex his Oscar nominated vocal cords and reprise his viral dance routines. And yet it’s an absolute showstopper, one as ridiculous as it is beautiful. Like the powerful monologue America Ferrera delivers about the impossibilities of being a woman, this five-minute sequence is an empathetic acknowledgment of the pressures put on men to (literally) perform their masculinity, often to toxic lengths. Barbie has my heart ❤️ “Barbie” scored six awards, including best comedy. The film also won best song, which was awarded to “I’m Just Ken.” Songwriters Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt as well as Ryan Gosling, who performed the song, accepted the award. Barbie also received best original screenplay, best production design, best costume design, and best hair and makeup. I am rewatching this film in a full pink attire once again, can't get enough of the Barbie fever. Most people tend to minimize the impact of this film 🎥 but fail to realize that this is the kind of film that is layered, complex, profound and offers a lens to view the boxes that society and culture imposes on people's existence and how that impacts their happiness and live their truths.
