When designing a new product, it’s important to think about **how** the product will be manufactured. Design for manufacturing (DFM) prevents quality issues and eliminates manufacturing waste. DFM offers an opportunity to reduce risk early in the process. It's much harder and more expensive to make changes closer to launch. Swipe to explore seven steps product designers can take to optimize for DFM. Ready to delve deeper? As product design experts, we like to give out small tips on mistakes to avoid during product development. One piece of advice we often give is not to overinvest in early prototypes. The true success of your product can’t be measured until it’s in the hands of your customers. For most products, overinvesting in early prototypes when it isn’t necessary can be a drain on your budget. Limit the number of early prototypes you create and put those extra dollars toward market testing and other initiatives that will help accelerate market introduction. Prototyping serves a crucial role in manufacturing, allowing us to transform ideas into tangible models while identifying potential improvements. In our latest blog, we’ll explore how prototyping not only enhances product development but also ensures quality and efficiency in production. 👩🔬 In today's competitive manufacturing landscape, prototyping is a fundamental step that champions innovation and quality. By creating functional prototypes, manufacturers gain valuable insights into the design and functionality of their products prior to mass production. This process helps identify possible design flaws, reducing risks and ensuring that the final product meets the highest standards. Prototyping is, therefore, an essential practice for maintaining quality, driving innovation, and staying ahead of the competition. 🚀 #Prototyping #Manufacturing #ProductDevelopment #QualityAssurance #Innovation
