Starting in April, a new employee bicycle benefit will be available through cooperation between Finland’s leading employee benefits service, Edenred Finland and bike benefit provider Vapaus. 💝 This cooperation is a significant step towards promoting sustainable and healthy mobility within work communities. Recent user research by Vapaus has shown that the bike benefit has had a positive impact on users and society as a whole. For 42% of users, having access to a benefit bike has reduced their car usage, while 43% have significantly increased their cycling. Additionally, 56% of benefit bike users have reported improvements in their health thanks to cycling. The cornerstone of a strong team is shared experiences. Our recent three-day team-building event in Oslo was the perfect opportunity to bring together our team from different countries. We started with a visit to the Holmenkollen ski jump, followed by a hike through the Nordmarka forest. The team faced various challenges together, enjoying the stunning Norwegian landscapes. The hike required true teamwork, especially when navigating the steep slopes – it turns out, real team-building starts where the trail ends! Along the way, we visited the Future Library, a project symbolizing sustainability and long-term vision, perfectly aligning with our company's values. We also explored the city of Oslo, discovering historical areas like Aker Brygge and modern cultural landmarks like the Oslo Opera House and Bjørvika district. This trip was a great opportunity to strengthen collaboration, especially while balancing on the steep hillsides. Whether helping each other climb or sharing funny stories, every moment reflected our commitment to working together to achieve the best results. Our team – from Lithuania to Norway, from Latvia to Denmark – proved that together we can overcome any challenge. This trip was not only about work but also about bonding and building friendships. Plus, we learned an important lesson: curiosity, comfortable shoes, and a good sense of humor are the keys to successful team-building! As I prepare for my inaugural race at Sepang, Malaysia this weekend, an unexpected opportunity has thrust me into uncharted territory, yet again—an invitation to join a professional race team to compete in the the VW Fun Cup 2024, a 25-hour endurance race (the longest in the World) at Belgium's renowned F1 Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps. This marks my debut beyond Sepang, my induction into endurance racing, and my first experience piloting a tube chassis, single-seater, paddle-shifted race car build specifically for this arduous competition. At this race, we'll also be the only team representing Motorsports Singapore on this international stage. Accepting the invitation was the easy part; now, rigorous preparation of mind, body, and spirit lies ahead. Each moment leading up to the race is dedicated to honing my skills and fortifying my determination. Yet beyond mere readiness lies a deeper journey—joining a team of seasoned professionals opens doors to new learning and training opportunities, fueling my ambition to surpass perceived limits and test my capabilities. With anticipation mounting, I eagerly embrace the thrill of the unknown. While Sepang offers familiarity, Spa-Francorchamps presents fresh challenges and avenues for personal growth. With twenty-five hours of adrenaline-pumping excitement looming, I am poised to confront this new chapter head-on. 🏎💨 Living with discomfort is my 2024 mantra—embracing the unfamiliar, pushing through physical and mental barriers, and adapting to the challenges on and off the track, in personal and professional life.
