Healthcare costs are skyrocketing, and many people with chronic conditions rely on expensive medications for years. This isn't sustainable. Instead of just treating symptoms, functional medicine digs deeper to find the reasons people get sick. It's like looking for the roots of a weed instead of just cutting off the leaves. By finding and fixing these root causes, functional medicine can potentially: -Restore people's health: People might even get rid of their conditions completely. -Save money: Treating the root cause can be cheaper than constantly managing symptoms. Imagine someone with digestive issues taking endless pills. Functional medicine might look at their diet, stress levels, and sleep habits to see if those things are playing a role. By addressing those factors, they might actually heal their digestive system and get off the pills! This is just the basic idea of functional medicine. "Adequate Protein Level in Midlife Tied to Health Aging". I saw this article in Medscape and immediately thought that it's a great headline, but is it misleading? I suspect that higher protein intake is a result of higher income and better education, which will affect the subject's overall approach to healthcare. So maybe raising protein intake is not, in itself, sufficient. The study also differentiates between plant and animal sources of protein, but again I suspect confounding factors. I'm no expert on nutrition, so I'd welcome feedback (no pun intended!). Here's a link to the article: www.apmcpd.co.uk/protein
