Female representation makes up less than 25% of the Australian spatial industry workforce. At Veris, we’re passionate about changing this statistic and inspiring the next generation of spatial data professionals. That’s why we’ve partnered with Camberwell Girls Grammar School to create a dynamic learning experience sparked by student interest in geospatial career paths as part of their Upskill Program. Our Melbourne team had an incredible time participating in Camberwell Girls Grammar School Day last week. We welcomed the students into our world, giving them a firsthand look at the real-world applications of their classroom learning. They witnessed a range of exciting technologies, including laser scanning at Margaret Court Arena, assessing overshadowing risks at the Shrine of Remembrance, exploring drone applications, observing AI in detecting road defects, and experiencing GIS in action. Christopher Gill, Baden Coates, Mina Jahanshahi, and Kellie Dean shared invaluable insights into their surveying careers, emphasising the incredible opportunities in the surveying and spatial industry. A special mention to Josh Denholm, who shared his experiences working on the Metro Tunnel Project and presented the fascinating process of tunnelling beneath the city. Our team was thrilled to share our passion for surveying, engineering, and spatial data. We’re excited to continue our collaboration with CGGS, forging the next generation of geospatial engineers! #Veris #CGGS #Surveying #SpatialData
