Clinical Research Director | Expert management of clinical trials, leveraging access to a diverse patient base | Specialized in driving healthcare innovations for research & pharmaceutical sectors.
🙌🏼 Tokenism in clinical trials for rare disease patients refers to the superficial inclusion of these individuals without genuinely considering their unique needs or adequately representing their conditions in the research. This practice can undermine the development of effective treatments for rare diseases, as it fails to capture the full spectrum of patient experiences and the specific challenges they face. 🔹 Tokenism may result from a lack of understanding, limited patient populations, or the drive to meet diversity quotas rather than a sincere effort to integrate meaningful patient involvement. 👨🏽⚕️ Addressing tokenism requires a more thoughtful and committed approach to patient recruitment and engagement, ensuring that clinical trials for rare diseases are designed with the genuine intention of understanding and addressing the specificities of these conditions, thereby leading to more relevant and impactful medical advancements. #skycrng #clinicalnursingleadership #hospitalcare #nurseleadership #patientoutcomes #healthcareleadership

What you think are the challenges in clinical trials industry? In my view there can be many challenges associated with starting clinical trials. These can include, but are not limited to, ensuring diversity, site selection, regulatory barriers and patient retention. And, with rare diseases, finding enough people to participate in clinical trials can also be a big challenge.
