We recently congratulated two of our wonderful colleagues on their well-deserved retirements. One of them was Mark Smith. There’s no better testament to the hard work and dedication you put into your work, than when you’re praised by those you serve, so we’d like to share a letter we received by one of Mark’s long-time clients. You’ve probably read that our core values are truth, transparency, and integrity, but those words are fulfilled by our actions. Mark was committed to keeping us true to our name. #VeritexCommunityBank #TheTruthinTexasBanking #LetterofAppreciation

Our journey began on September 7, 2010 when Veritex acquired Professional Bank where he served as President. In fact, Mark once shared with me he would give this Veritex Bank "thing" a trial run for a year or two and if it didn't work . . . Well, it's been over 13 years since! He has led with an unwavering commitment to humbly serve others, leaving behind a legacy defined by integrity, wisdom, and kindness. I want to express my heartfelt appreciation for his leadership, dedication, and compassion for clients and teammates over the past 13 years. Mark, as you transition into a well-deserved retirement, know that your contributions are deeply appreciated and will always be remembered. We wish you nothing but happiness, health, and fulfillment in all your future endeavors, whether that involves time at the ranch, captaining a catamaran in the Carribean, sailing on Lake Ray Hubbard, enjoying fine tequila, or fishing with friends! (Yes he has done it all!) Thank you once again for your remarkable service and leadership. May your retirement be filled with joy, relaxation, and all the wonderful moments you so rightfully deserve. And as for everyone else, never be afraid to take a vacation day! Love ya, Mark Smith!

I was lucky enough to hear this letter read aloud at Marks retirement gathering. We can only hope each of us are lucky enough to build relationships in our work like this one. All the best to Mark and his retirement adventures. He is one of the good ones.

So grateful for Zad’s kind words that characterize the very essence of Mark Smith’s banking career. His friends became clients and his clients became friends!
