Did you know that recently, SK Earthon, a South Korean company, won its second bid to explore oil fields in Malaysia? Source: https://lnkd.in/gjUQD6G3 Two years after winning their first bid, they’ve now been granted rights to explore the Ketapu Cluster, located off the coast of Sarawak, through an agreement with Petronas. SK Earthon will hold 85% of the stake, while the rest will be owned by Malaysia’s oil company, PSEP. SK Earthon plans to start producing oil and gas from this field by 2031, after conducting further studies and exploration. They’re also exploring another oil block in the same area, so both projects will be combined to boost production. With this success, SK Earthon is solidifying its position in the oil and gas industry in Southeast Asia and China. At the same time, they’re working to reduce carbon emissions by expanding into eco-friendly energy. Want to learn more about oil and gas? Petronas Identified Cause of Power Outage at Malaysia LNG https://ift.tt/ugy7jNA Petronas is working to restore operations at its massive Bintulu LNG complex in Malaysia after a power outage late last week. The company said in a statement it is working to startup the facility after it identified the cause of the power loss, which it said occurred late on May 10. No timeline was given for a restart. The company added that it is working with customers to “mitigate the impact of the incident and fulfill its contractual commitments.” [Inside the Political Firestorm: NGI sits down with Neil Chatterjee, a former FERC chairman and commissioner, to discuss the impacts of President Biden’s LNG pause on authorizing new liquefied natural gas export projects in the U.S. Tune into NGI’s Hub & Flow podcast now.] Kpler vessel tracking data showed six ballast vessels floating near the facility on Wednesday, including two that are expected at Bintulu this week and another scheduled to arrive later in the month. No vessels were docked at the terminal. Bintulu includes nine trains and has a liquefaction capacity of 30 million metric tons/year. It is one of the largest liquefied natural gas export plants in the world. The outage comes as a train at Chevron Corp.’s Gorgon LNG terminal in Western Australia is expected to be offline until early next month after it tripped in April. Australia supplies most of its LNG to Asia like the Bintulu complex. However, issues at the Freeport LNG terminal in the United States have eased, with all three liquefaction trains back online. Feed gas supplies hit a nearly six month high this week at over 2 Bcf/d. Cold weather at the terminal in January caused damage to all three trains that needed repairs. *Klaipeda performs largest ever reload onto the Amur River, which will deliver a cargo for Equinor to Inkoo tomorrow. Another delivery and large reload added to the schedule for next week* Read for free here: https://lnkd.in/eGUJNb-D The 155,000m³ Amur River reloaded 105,000m³ of LNG at Klaipeda and left the terminal this morning. Equinor will deliver the cargo to Finland's 3.9mn t/yr Inkoo LNG terminal, Klaipeda operator KN Energies — formerly Klaipedos Nafta — said. The Amur River will arrive at Inkoo on 20 January, according to the port's shipping schedule. Previous Klaipeda reloads were limited to small-scale vessels, mostly of less than 10,000m³ in size, KN Energies said. The previous largest transshipment was just 17,000m³, the operator added. This large transshipment demonstrates that Klaipeda "not only serves as the main source of natural gas supply to Lithuania but also acts as infrastructure of regional importance, thus ensuring gas supplies to other countries", Mindaugas Navikas, chief commercial officer of KN Energies, said. Klaipeda adds January cargo, reload KN Energies updated its terminal schedule on 18 January, adding an additional cargo and another large reload. A 138,000m³ cargo is due to be delivered on 22 January, and another 45,000m³ reload is then scheduled for 24 January. The 148,000m³ Arctic Princess has declared for arrival at Klaipeda late this evening, carrying a cargo from Norway's Hammerfest terminal. The close proximity of the delivery and reload suggests a firm may be splitting up a larger cargo into a smaller one for onward delivery to Inkoo. The municipality's terminal schedule shows another cargo due to arrive on 24 January, 290GWh in size. #gas #LNG #Baltics #Finland #supply #trading #Equinor #security #reload
