Thank you. Yesterday I handed over the last keys to Royal Arctic Line during an informal tour at the head office in Nuuk, and I am now officially on garden leave from today. It has been 8 fantastic years with very good colleagues and teams, and I will forever remain thankful and delighted to have been part of our journey towards shaping a new Royal Arctic Line. The Liner service of Royal Arctic Line is now open and dynamic, with weekly services all year round into other markets than Denmark, and perhaps years ahead of what present needs entail. It has been shown that even government owned non-consumer driven monolithic infrastructure monopolies with political stakeholders in a closed-loop, domestically oriented trading pattern with roots back to 1776 can be moved forward into the 21st century. The journey involved many new exciting, fruitful and enabling business relationships across the value chain, with companies that will be too disclosing and too long to list here, but those of you in the network, and whom I dealt with personally will be in the know, and to you a heart-felt “thank you!” <3 In terms of Arctic Umiaq Line, the coastal passenger service, I am very excited about the new activities with Hurtigruten A/S to develop and promote joint products for the West coast of Greenland, with an aim to support sustainable tourism along the entire coastline in a rapidly more accessible Greenland when new airports are available in 2025-2026. This is a very exciting development for both companies and for Greenland in particular. I am grateful to have worked with so many very competent people internally as well as externally in the past 8 years to the obvious task to renew the physical and service aspects of Royal Arctic Line. But the task with our external partners has also been to bring a bit more of the rest of the world to Greenland. I have seen this as an important step in building a foundation for increased Greenlandic growth. Not just economically, but also in terms of assisting a beautiful young nation in shaping its ability to become an actor on the global stage, with a strengthened and more self-aware Greenlandic identity. I certainly see this as a well-suited ambition for a shipping company owned by the people of Greenland. My assignment with Royal Arctic Line has now ended on good terms. Other good people must now build on it to bring it to the next level. I have updated my experience and status info here on LinkedIn accordingly.  #greenland #royalarcticline #arcticshipping #arctic #thankyou
