Culture is the seed of a business. It's the atmosphere you generated with your team. It’s all the little things. The way you spoke to one another. How you shared ideas. The challenge of growth. The commitment to lead. Growth happens because culture readies you. As we started to scale my first company, it felt like we were losing that magic. It was like trying to hold onto water with our bare hands. Lots of unintended consequences and leaking everywhere. People flying in different directions, tending to fire after fire. Scaling your business without scaling your culture is like expecting a tree to grow without water. It's not just gonna happen. I learned the hard way. Our culture, our DNA, needed to evolve with us. It had to be intentional, not incidental. After losing some key people, I got my head out of my rear. I started talking more. Asking more questions. Reset expectations. We started thinking of culture as our compass, keeping us true to what made us start this business in the first place. It should be FUN! It was about creating a culture that wasn't just a plaque on the wall but a living, breathing ethos that moved and grew with us. And when you get that culture scaling right… it's like finding that magic again. You attract the right people who don't just show up for the paycheck but are there for the ride, ready to roll up their sleeves and dive into the mess with you. So, take a look at your team's culture. Does it look like what you envisioned it to be? Or have you fallen away from those standards?
