Happy International Women’s Day!
On this day, I am grateful for:
1️⃣ Increased #appreciation of supportive and meaningful relationships with women across the industry. There is enough space for all of us to #succeed and flourish at what we do.
2️⃣ Deepening #emphasis on #allyship. It is not a case of us versus them. It never was and should not be. It is about a lasting #partnership that is mutually respectful.
3️⃣ #Purposeful efforts to create and sustain a community and space that enable one another to discover pursue goals that reflects our values and #authentic voice.
4️⃣ Sensible realisation that there are still challenges and no one-size-fits-all solution. There is #recognition that #opportunities need to be suitably tailored to effective.
5️⃣ Honest and meaningful conversations that enable us to be open on how we can be supported and/or lend support, and #accountability to one another.
While there is a day dedicated to the cause of #diversity and #inclusion to #celebrate our journey, we must remember 365 small daily efforts is more effective that 1 day of a big thing.
For avoidance of doubt, I do not think we need to have an IWD or IWM. If you ask me privately, I will be happy to share my thoughts. However, I have chosen to celebrate today, in any case, because I think it is important to remind ourselves that there is still a way to go in achieving equality, equity, and that there are many places where having a voice (as a female) is still not yet a right. Today is a reminder of that vision.
Last, if you have not taken the time to thank those who have cared and supported you, please do so!
