It's often challenging to deploy funds to areas of need quickly in times of disaster. We support vetted and trusted US-based disaster relief nonprofit partners who have a history of being responsive to disasters regionally, nationally, and globally. Our disaster relief and resilience partners are experts in the field and provide culturally responsive needs while ensuring continuity of care as the community rebuilds and revitalizes. https://buff.ly/3PvEqDB (Photo of Ukraine Courtesy of Catholic Relief Services, Caritas Spes) #DisasterRelief #DisasterResponse #DisasterResilience

How can we serve your community? The first step is getting to know our capabilities! When disaster strikes, our volunteers are ready to respond. Team Rubicon arrives in disaster zones, coordinates with local emergency response organizations, and establishes self-sustained bases of operations within range of potential worksites. With wildfires blazing across the country, here's how our Greyshirt volunteers can assist before, during, and after a fire: 🌲 Fire Mitigation - Reducing fire risks by clearing flammable vegetation. 👥 Volunteer Management - Organizing and deploying skilled volunteers where they're needed. 🏠 Evacuation Centre Support and Logistics 🔎 Sifting Operations - Helping families safely recover cherished items from the ashes of their property. Help us deploy more Greyshirts this wildfire season to support the communities that will need us most. 📢 The Premier's Department’s recent ‘Review of Emergency Volunteering’ is helping to lay a strong foundation for the future of the emergency volunteering sector. 📌 The Review of Emergency Volunteering made 13 recommendations for the State Emergency Management Committee and its member agencies to ensure we continue to meet the needs of communities during future disasters. 📌 Emergency volunteers of all types are essential in times of disaster, such as floods, fires, and storms. In recent years, we have seen the rate of informal community volunteering grow in response to disaster events like the 2019/2020 bushfires, and the 2022 Lismore Floods. 📌 A new $5 million grants program is being launched to acknowledge the changing patterns of volunteering and help these types of spontaneous volunteers to be better trained, equipped and coordinated. 👉 Reports 1 and 2 of the Review are now available. Imagine the devastation of a hurricane – families displaced, livelihoods shattered, communities in disarray. It's a heartbreaking scenario, but amidst the chaos, there's hope. And that hope lies in the economic opportunities that the Blue Atlas Project is creating for refugees. First and foremost, we believe in the power of entrepreneurship. We're not just giving handouts; we're empowering refugees to become self-reliant and build sustainable businesses that provide for themselves and their families. Whether it's through skills training, aquaponic gardens, or farming development, we're equipping refugees with the tools and resources they need to thrive. #blueatlasproject #donate #fyp #helpingothers #bahamas #happy #empowerment

Responding to crises in flood-affected #Afghanistan In late February, devastating storms, floods and mudslides swept through Afghanistan, leading to: ➡thousands of casualties ➡displacement ➡damage to homes & infrastructure ➡ agricultural losses (including livestock) In partnership with Union Aid, we launched an emergency project aimed at saving lives and building resilience in the flood-affected regions in northern Afghanistan. Our mission is to support the most vulnerable communities, particularly households headed by women with children, people with disabilities, and breastfeeding women. These groups have been disproportionately affected by the floods. By working closely with affected communities and establishing a robust feedback and response management system, we ensure the highest level of accountability and support for those in need. Together, we’re restoring hope and rebuilding lives. Australian Business Volunteers submitted a statement to the Senate Select Committee on Australia's Disaster Resilience. The committee aims to investigate the roles of different entities, including the Australian Defence Force, volunteer groups, not-for-profit organisations, and state-based services. Its purpose is to determine the necessary support to improve Australia's resilience and response to natural disasters. Our submission is based on our deep experience working in multiple areas affected by natural disasters in New South Wales and Victoria. It stresses the importance of community-led approaches and place-based models in disaster resilience efforts. Our recommendations encourage a collaborative approach, bringing together stakeholders such as community leaders, organisations, charities, emergency services, and government agencies. We believe this collaborative effort is essential to avoid working in isolation and to effectively support preparedness and recovery efforts.
