"... the most trusted retailer" - it's their vision according to Mr Machin. But the word (or concept) of 'trust' cannot easily be quantified or even verified. It is a generic word that means different things to different people. M&S is conducting a massive consumer awareness campaign (who is paying for it?) - but I recently visited a flagship M&S store in the interests of market research. I was shocked at the price of everyday items compared to the stores I normally visit. The competition for market share in this industry is intense and will only increase due to the state of the economy which is unlikely to improve in the foreseeable future. _____________________________________
