Time to call your representative! If you live in the US, you can help make sure that the Medicare Audiology Access Improvement Act gets passed. This bill will: - Amend the definition of “audiology services” in the Medicare statute, which specifies the services that audiologists may provide, to include all services already covered by Medicare that are also within an audiologist's scope of practice; - Amend the Medicare definition of practitioner to include audiologists, which improves beneficiary access to audiologic and vestibular care, a change that is consistent with Medicare's classification of similar health care providers such as clinical social workers and clinical psychologists; - Make technical changes to remove the pre-treatment order requirement, which does not exist with any other federal or commercial payer, allowing beneficiaries to have direct access to audiologists; - Ensure seniors and people with disabilities can receive the full scope of audiology services covered by Medicare at Rural Health Centers and Federally Qualified Health Centers; and - Make no changes to the scope of hearing health benefits covered by Medicare or the scope of practice of audiologists. Can you identify the difference between dizziness and vertigo? 👇 👀 Dizziness: The sensation of disturbed or impaired spatial orientation without a false or distorted sense of motion. 😵💫 Vertigo: The sensation of self-motion when no self-motion is occurring or the sensation of distorted self-motion during an otherwise normal head movement. Dizziness is a common complaint, accounting for 5% of all primary care visits. While these terms are often used interchangeably, knowing the difference is key to diagnosing and managing your vestibular disorder. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/grmGHRiu

The vestibular system, made up of the inner ear and brain, plays a crucial role in maintaining balance and stability. When this system malfunctions, individuals may experience symptoms like dizziness, vertigo, imbalance, and falls. A promising treatment option is Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy (VRT), which involves tailored exercises prescribed by a trained therapist. Recent research shows that a customized VRT program, with specific instructions and guidance, provides superior outcomes compared to a generalized booklet-based program. Individualized VRT helps reduce symptoms, boost confidence, and improve quality of life, making it a key intervention for those with vestibular disorders.
