A prosthetic leg, a heart condition, a learning difficulty, neurological conditions, autoimmune disorders, connective tissue disorders… you can’t see them, but they are always there. Today, on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, I want to shed light on the challenges faced by individuals affected by leprosy. Though curable, leprosy often leads to disabilities due to delayed diagnosis and stigma. Beyond physical challenges, many endure isolation and discrimination, affecting their mental health and life opportunities. Let us work together to break these barriers, promote inclusion, and ensure early diagnosis and care. Together, we can build a world free of stigma and discrimination. #DisabilityInclusion #LeprosyAwareness #BreakTheStigma #InclusionForAll #InternationalDayofPersonswithDisabilities The picture is generated through AI

In honour of Autistic Pride Day, I want to spotlight the efforts Oral-B is making in the disability space. Our Big Rethink campaign is dedicated to making oral care more inclusive for individuals with both visible and non-visible disabilities. As part of our ‘Think Again’ series on the Oral-B Big Rethink website, one of our Disability Champions, Claire Berry shares the steps she takes in her practice to ensure patients with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) feel comfortable and at ease during their dental visits. To better accommodate patients with ASD, Claire recommends: 1. Organising a meet and greet to help patients familiarise themselves with the dental staff. 2. Providing a tour of the practice so they can become accustomed to the environment. 3. Scheduling appointments during quieter times of the day. 4. Turning off music during appointments and offering tinted glasses to reduce sensory overstimulation. The Big Rethink Hub offers valuable advice for both patients and oral care professionals.
