🌊🚢 Yesterday, I had the privilege of visiting Inverlussa Marine Services's newest vessel, the Isaac McKinnon, a testament to innovation and excellence in the maritime and aquaculture industry. This incredible addition to the fleet symbolises not only technological advancement but also the dedication and hard work that drives Scotland's salmon industry forward. 🐟🏴 The salmon industry is a cornerstone of the Scottish economy, contributing significantly to our national income and providing countless jobs across the West Highlands and beyond. Companies like Inverlussa and Mowi are at the forefront, pushing the boundaries of what's possible and ensuring that Scotland remains a global leader in aquaculture. However, it’s crucial to address the challenges that come with doing business in regions with less developed transport infrastructure. The West Highlands, with its breathtaking landscapes, also faces logistical hurdles that can impact efficiency and growth. Two prime ministers, one goal! The Swedish-Finnish cooperation is alive and well, and in many ways stronger than ever (excluding perhaps the 600 years we were actually the same country). When Svenskt Näringsliv and their Finnish counterpart invited leaders from business and politics it was clear that the focus on competitiveness, innovation and industrial development is strong. An extra bonus was the emphasis on forestry, green transition and our region’s potential of contributing the biogenic carbon that the industry of the future needs. The Nordics must play a more proactive role on the European and global levels. Today was a show of optimism and resolve.

I am thrilled to speak at the Reset Connect panel "Regenerative Agriculture and Restoration of Degraded Lands: Finance and Agribusiness Working Together Towards Sustainability" during the London Climate Week with esteemed colleagues whom I deeply admire Marcelo Pereti, Bruno Mastriani Simões Tuca, Natália Machado and José Pugas. Together, we will showcase how Brazil is poised to revolutionize the green sector, generating benefits for both the environment and society. Sines (Alentejo) 9&10.04.2024. Anyone who ignores the power of the rivers and the sea, ignores the flow of history. Ports give people the chance to interact and to interconnect over the water. They are the cradle of progress, and therefore have various functions: not only the organization of core logistics and sustainable energy production, but also innovation and socio-economic regional development. This is the message, which has been delivered during the General Assembly of the Atlantic Arc Commission, which took place on the 9th and 10th of April at the port of Sines in the Alentejo region (Portugal). During this meeting, 15 regions from Portugal, Spain, France, and Ireland, together with Wales and Québec, adopted a political declaration "Towards an Atlantic Macro-Region by 2030": interconnectivity and transport, circularity, decarbonisation of ports and vessels, aquaculture and fisheries, sustainable agriculture, offshore renewable energies, research and training, and creative tourism are some of the priorities that have been defined.
