Tip of the Day: When employees respect each other and get along in the workplace, it's amazing how productivity increases along with morale. —> We fulfill and send out thousands and thousands of packages every single month. —> Our fulfillment rate is ALWAYS over 99.5% How is this possible? Everyone who works here has respect for eachother. It doesn’t matter if you’re the President, CEO, Director of E-Commerce, Fulfillment Staff, Procurement Director, or the cleaning staff. If I plan on running a promotion or sale I always give procurement and fulfillment as much lead time as possible so they can prepare and not get blindsided. In return, if there’s ever an issue on their end they immediately bring it to my attention and we find a resolution ASAP. I walk into work every single morning and the first thing I do is walk out of the offices and into the back of the warehouse. I say good morning and shake every persons hand out there, chat with them for a little bit before I start my day. Asking if they watched the game last night, or how their vacation was, etc. I challenge you to truly get a sense of company respect and morale from within. It’s amazing what being good human beings can do in the workplace and to your sales!

Fixed storage systems and manual labor limit adaptability and cap throughout, leading to delayed order processing, bottlenecks, and increased operating costs. 2️⃣ Product Slotting and Inventory Organization: 🧩 Maintaining optimal product placement is challenging and often impossible without sophisticated software and strict process adherence. Most processes and storage solutions fail to adapt to changing product mix and velocity, impacting fulfillment costs and productivity, which only amplifies with larger SKU sets. 3️⃣ Order Picking and Fulfillment Efficiency: 🚀 Manual picking methods are time-consuming, with over half the time spent searching for items and prone to errors. Inefficiencies in searching for items and human factors like fatigue impact productivity, service levels, and labor costs. 4️⃣ Omnichannel Fulfillment: 📊 Managing diverse order profiles (retail, e-commerce, wholesale) under one roof is challenging. Manual processes struggle with different order attributes, making it hard to optimize inventory and allocate resources efficiently across channels. 5️⃣ Workforce Recruitment and Retention: 💼 Warehouses relying on outdated processes find it hard to attract skilled workers and training on obsolete systems can take months. High turnover rates and challenges in retaining employees result from mundane tasks and outdated technology, leading to recruitment costs and productivity losses. I would have never said this 15 years ago. My warehouse is full, this in the picture is the last line we built then there is no space. Owning your logistic is so loving. See Your products, have people working, see the growth for real. I understand who goes in 3pl, fast growth and numbers. I have tried in the beginning. Didn’t work out, rationally. The level of effort I put in my logistic is huge, I could spend that time to grow more the company. Also I see these benefits owning your own warehouse: - better customer service processes; - costs are fix and impact much less on scale; - inspires your team to feel the company. ❓ Was Your Distribution Network 'Designed' ❓ Here are the symptoms of a mis-aligned Distribution Network... ❎ Excess inventory 'puddles' around the network. ❎ Customer service performance is inconsistent. ❎ Customer / stocking point allocation is illogical. ❎ Distribution costs per unit are increasing. ❎ Cost per order & customer is opaque. ❎ Stock locations are at capacity. Distribution Networks develop over time. They are very rarely 'designed' from scratch. So as an organisation's needs change, the Distribution Network needs to be monitored and re-aligned along the way. Product range changes, volume and customer growth, new channels and services. All of these and more impact the ability of a Distribution Network to maintain the required balance of cost and service. So most......are out of alignment to some degree. The key is to track the RIGHT Performance Indicators and adjust things as you go, rather than wait until you need a drastic re-algnment. For my sales people - We often focus on trying to sell our service/product from the get-go and share differentiators between us and the competitors right away. Why do we rush doing this? To be honest, I guess we want to always just show a brand why they need to choose us 🤔 Wrong approach though ❌ We need to understand the brand's pain points and business needs before diving into a solution. By listening first and digging deeper, you have a better chance of understanding the below: ➡ Why are they looking to switch? ➡ What support do they require? ➡ What kind of complaints do their customers have? These are just a few things but the main thing is to have the customer really share all aspects affecting their business. Showing you understand their challenges builds trust. It's not about what you offer, its how you solve their problems 🤝 Explaining differentiators without any context risks missing the mark. Let me start by saying the bridge collapse and loss of life is a tragedy that is far worse than the Supply Chain disruptions that are caused by that collapse. That said, Grant raises a number of excellent questions regarding the impact of this tragedy on Supply Chains. Too many of those questions will remain unanswered due to the lack of even the most basic information in the transport and logistics networks that are supposed to support Supply Chains. The means and #standards required for such #information #exchanges #exist and have existed already (often for decades). #UNCEFACT, #ASTM, #ISO, #GS1, #ICC, #ANSI and many others provide the necessary building blocks that have already been used very successfully by a multitude of organisations in a wide range of sectors. #Adoption and #implementation of those building blocks in #transport and #logistics context is #long #overdue.

Everybody in the international supply chain woke up this morning to startling news that a bridge in Baltimore was struck by a container ship and collapsed, effectively crippling that port for the foreseeable future. The first question that all importers should have is: What is my impact? And this is where all of the visibility providers will earn their stripes...or not. Well, any container that is at the port is likely to be delayed. So you need to know what containers are in the port. Question: Are you able to determine which containers are at USBAL? Any container that was on a vessel scheduled to be delivered to the port of Baltimore will now be rerouted somewhere else...so those containers need to be addressed in some way, shape, or form. Question: Are you able to determine which containers are scheduled to be offloaded at USBAL? These are simple questions. And any visibility tool ought to be able to answer those questions. But how about this... What purchase orders are on those containers? What about sales orders? If all of the orders are going to be cancelled by the customer, how much dollar value will we lose? (CFO) If we won't be able to receive the containers for a few weeks, what percent of the goods is seasonal and will miss the season? (Product Management). What will be the impact to my sales plan? (Category Management). Are we able to fill certain orders from inventory? (Inventory Management). Which customers do we need to call to discuss alternatives? (Sales). These are just a few questions that your company might have...and your visibility provider is either supportive or not.
