We faced a new challenge – to create a unique VR simulator. To build an immersive platform for active communication, we needed to come up with realistic environments and situations and endow the characters with "intelligence." To achieve this, we harnessed the potential of AI and integrated around 100 scenarios. As a result, the characters can engage in full-fledged conversations, providing accurate real-time responses. Additionally, after the virtual conversation, you can receive an analysis of your own strengths and weaknesses, helping you to improve your communication skills. Here’s how it looks. Doing a really simple project in VR in Unreal just to get back in the swing of things. Basically just an array of colliders that cast out in front of you, and anything they hit makes noise. Left/right is stereo separation, up/down is pitch, but in discrete chunks so it's not just a wall of noise, and close/far is amplitude. It should be a trivial project, and I'm curious if it can be useful in some way - basically audiovision. I'm curious if you can tweak the number of colliders & tones and other parameters to turn vision into parse-able audio in a way that you can learn to understand. Of course, running into my first problem is that it's been years since I've done anything in Unreal, UE5 is pretty different from UE4, and parking something in front of the HMD in the VR Pawn has left it invisible, unless it's 1530+ units away from the camera. At 1540? Visible. 1530? Not visible. ?!?!?!? Ah, what a way to spend a morning.
